Dunno why the pic came up so small used photobucket like I always do. The part number has changed from 233900l041 to 233900L050. The new one has an extra filter on the bottom. I'll have to find out the whys of the change but they both interchange.

so is the extra bit on the bottom, a finer micron filter to help overcome our crap fuel and extend injector life, or what is it for mate???

No it is to stop the quick fuel flow from holding the water alarm float down. That's it.

thanks boxhead, a useful modification. saves having to constantly keep draining the fuel filter a bit checking for water. at least not as often.

Picked up this new style filter, didn't even have to ask for it. Certainly different for sure.

This information may help anyone in the future. I went to my local Toyota parts supplier. He said the older style cannot be used on new hiluxs but the new style can be used on all of the Hilux range. Don't know how true this is but that's what he told me anyway.
cheers

New genuine fuel filters

Postby teambullet on Mon, 18 May 2015 3:10 +0000

Have been changing my fuel filters every 5k, last genuine filter i got looked totally different, had a filter right down the bottom also.
Took it back in, they tell me its the new filter now, looks like toyota have made new fuel filters, filtering more.
Anyone else noticed this.

I just changed the fuel filter on my 2013 dual cab and i bought the ryco filters, they are the old style even though i bought one today. The filter i took out was also the old style which i never put in, the car has done 74000klms so toyota would have changed it as they have been the only people servicing my car. Should my car have the updated filter or am i missing something?

As far as I knew toyota never change the fuel filter in servicing as they claim it's a lifetime filter?? Only get changed if there's a problem. I'm sure boxhead will chime in. If ya have a 2013 it would still have the old style one from the factory.

Yea my mate that works at toyota told me they have a newer filter now. He told me dont use anything other than genuine as ryco is still the old style.
