I have recently started to read up on because I knew nothing about them. I can give you some broad advice. The chip is creating a situation that your ECU doesn't like so into limp mode it goes to protect your engine. What kind of chip is it? From my reading, if the chip you have just increases injector pulse pressure then you should just rip the chip out. Steinbauer and Chipit expand the pulse width and people seem reasonably happy with them. If you have one of them, look into the problem further.

Thanks mate I worked out the chip was faulty so I took it out and since then no problems I've also herd good things about the ones you mentioned I will start to look in to them

Good stuff. I have yet to hear any bad reviews of Steinbauer, except from the few that are against chipping all together. Some people have bad mouthed Chipit, but I reckon they have a great after sale service which includes being able to run a diagnostic of your chip over the internet.

ChipIt went into solvency in March, they're products were causing nothing but problems, and many on here copped the bad end of the stick, not receiving their chips after months of ordering them, extremely poor aftermarket service, or are stuck with faulty chips.

Do a search on here, and you'll see a tonne of info in regards to them.

If you're going to replace it, you're probably better off looking into UniChip Q+ or HKS F-Con iD. They're piggy back ECU's, and should be tuned on a dyno. It can control boost, rail pressure, air-fuel ratio, throttle response, the works, so you get better gains, and a setup much more safer and reliable specifically to your car.

If you prefer an 'out-of-the-box' chip, then I wouldn't look at anything other than Steinbauer.

100% agree with the comments above! Any chip that plugs only into the fuel rail sensor will let you down

Just when you think your getting to understand something, someone lets you know how wrong you are. Lol. Love the feedback. I will look into those piggybacks now myself. Cheers

or a steinbauer chip, very safe and moderate but noticeable increase in power / torque

I can't seem to find much educational material on Unichip Q+ and HKS F-con iD. I obviously found the home pages on the internet, but other than that just some obscure references here and there. Do you know of any good threads or have a few choice links?

talk to people like Shane at 1KD Performance. they know these engines inside out

Unichip or HKS are the best on the market atm

Yep Shane, or Matt from JustAutos (He's on this forum too). Both of them have done extensive testing and are proving massive results from the HKS.
