Replacing SCV

Postby AshA on Thu, 08 May 2014 2:54 +0000

From the looks of it, replacing the SCV seems pretty straight forward. Unplug the wiring form the old SCV, remove the two hex screws from the old SCV, remove the old SCV.

Once you put the new SCV in, do up the screws and reconnect the wiring to it, is there anything else you have to do to tell the car its got a new one in it?

nope. you pretty much covered it all there!
all I'll add is to just give the fuel primer a few pumps and you'll be set.
i did mine through the wheel arch, left hand down full lock on the wheel.

Replaced it yesterday, took it out for a highway run after doing it and feels fantastic. What a difference in performance. I guess you dont noice the power dropping as these things wear out gradually but you certainly notice its come back in spades when you drop a new one in.

Heya, just bumping this. What is the part number for the new (long) SCV? It's for a 2006 Toyota HiLux D4D (the model with the EGR Cooler).

Supplied a dealership with p/n 04226-0L020 and was quoted $443, well above the average ~$230 I've been seeing.

Cheers mate - yeah, saw all the listings everywhere for a better price than the dealership by far.

Just trying to decipher between the four p/n:
- Toyota/Parts Catalogue: 04226-0L010
- Toyota/eBay: 04226-30010
- Toyota/eBay: 04226-0L020
- Denso/eBay: 294200-0040

Guessing that 0L020 superceded 0L010, and Denso is the same as Toyota...leaving 30010 as the outlier.

Get a picture of the pump serial number, under Lh wheel.
Go on to fleebay, most sellers have pump numbers to suit the scv.
