Injectors have been done already, hadnt been able to find a seperate valve before it went in for them and didnt feel like replacing the whole rail at $1200 so unfortunately it will be done as another job

By the way, do you have a link to the pressure relief valve you saw on ebay, I cant find it

Not so good when you provide the VIN in the first order and the company (not United Fuel) sends the wrong one, send it back and to then receive another incorrect part...

Hi all Iv had the same issue brought a chip it chip came with a blanking valve to stop fuel returning to the tank. When I removed the pressure relief valve I think I may have dropped a small ball bearing from the relief valve.
I now want to put it back to standard as it been giving me grife. Can any body please send me a pic of there valve and a size of the ball bearing if there is a ball in them that is?

Hay mate did the ute show any sign of blowing smoke?
I have same issue and have tried everything apart from the tank strainer but I thought if it was starving for fuel it would blow smoke.

I'm not sure about your pressure relief valve dropping the ball bearing? Unless you have a very different model to mine it would be seen seated up inside the threaded end of the valve and now way for it to fall out. When I looked at mine up the 3-4mm hole I saw a end portion of bright shiny ball bearing that looked to be over 6mm - now way for it to fall out the hole.
Remove the chip and blanking plate completely as you stated - return to stock it you havnt already.
Chips = problems.
Buy a copy of a workshop manual or an electronic copy of GSIC - very handy

Hey guys,

I have (finally) run into a problem with my ute after many years of trouble free service. Ute is completely stock, just turned over 180,000km never had any performance work to the engine just the EGR removed (completely).

Coming back from the city the other day (250km) noticed it was blowing more than usual amount of black soot. But it otherwise drove fine, went to start it the following morning and had it fall into limp mode and eventually stall out. I rolled back down the drive way and hooked my phone up indicating a P0093 (Sever Fuel Leak) code, no external fuel leak are evident.

Its not a problem I have run into before (as a mechanic) and it has me slightly stumped.... I have had the scan tool on it and will upload the data shortly, there is nothing extremely out of spec other than #1 Feed Back (-3.8 mm^3) I would of thought a problem with an injector would raise more than one code?

Does the computer see low fuel pressure as a leak? Maybe somethings blocked, starving it and showing low pressure.

Pretty sure theres a relief bypass valve on the rail that causes this code. I had issues with it when i was getting my unichip sorted to much rail pressure causes it to throw this code. Id be checking the sensor

Hi mate how did you end up going with your unichip. I ended up getting a unichip and im now getting the P0093 and P0096 code. Happens randomly and sometimes 3/4 times in a row.

Did you sort it out?

Pressure relief valve opening because the chip is designed to boost common rail pressure beyond the limit set by Toyota! Some chip suppliers put a higher value relief in but this could be big trouble. Did you know the common rail pressure in 1kd is around 28,000 psi? That's an enormous pressure and to boost it higher is a recipe for disaster!
I think I read your previous post wherein you reported it doesn't happen when the chip is disconnected! You have answered your question yourself if you look closely... It works fine when towing or at higher revs because the engine is using the surplus fuel to keep up, but when you slow down or idle the pressure is higher because the ECU is not demanding more fuel, hence overpressure!
Boosting common rail pressure is a common method for chips but it does present issues in older vehicles, did you buy the chip new?
