does anyone know if there is a fuel cut off switch for the pump or where the fuse is for it or is that what the scv does.

Scv controls fuel flow into the pump, which also allows it to alter how much pressure ends up in the rails

The suction control valve is the fuel cut device. There are lots of fuses for that device main is the ecd
Fuse behind the battery. So is the ecu 1 and ecu2 fuses.
The valve controls how much fuel is delivered to the pump to pressurized the fuel for the fuel rail and injectors

turns out i had my mouth held wrong i pulled the scv out again this morning put it back in and presto fired straight up but now have engine check light on i will take to friend who has scan gauge on monday and see what it comes up with.

well it turns out not all ok
let ute idle in shed for 15mins and all ok. went to take for a drive at first it was good but got
200m down road and went into limp mode. i pulled over switched ute off and restarted and fired
and reved normal then back into limp mode.
managed to get ute home to shed and just as i entered shed started to miss and sounded like
a real loud injector rattle.
whould it be possible to have air in system.
wont be able to get to mate with scan gauge (or him to me) until monday.
any other ideas it starts no problem at all.

What was your original problem? Why did you ask about the scv at the start of this thread? Was something similar already happening?
If all this is new it might be time for a new scv. If this problem already existed it could be something totally different.

at first ute was bit hard to start in morning.
i just went all over conections etc and found a plug had a loose terminal near fuel rail
fixed it and went for a 70km drive and ran like a dream so fingers crossed problem
solved.

Mines an 09 and I've never cleaned one before so thought I'd have a look. It's longer then the one on the previous page but does have the connectors at the rear. Is it meant to be dis-assembled? I really think the valve is crimped together but thought I'd ask. Thanks in advance.

You have the more expensive style SCV or that's how it was explained to me. But honestly Matt if you are not experiencing any problems I wouldn't recommend dismantling one

Yeah I am but. I'm not a fiddler. It's starting to blow some smoke at 95k and feedback values are fine and I cleaned all the intake 10k ago. I'm going to bite the bullet and do injectors anyway but thought I'd have a look. The target vs actual pressures are fine but thought it might be intermittently sticking.
I value your point, if there was no problem I wouldn't play. Just checking basics first you know.

Just trying to save the heart ache I had cleaning mine for no reason that's all. But now I see you do have a problem. Good luck anyway, I'm not to familiar with smoke issues.

You can not dissemble.

And if your wondering that pump had petrol run through it and stuffed it completely. No lube = empty wallet.

Yeah that's mine. Like I said, I've replaced a few but never cleaned one. Thought what better one to look at than my own.

Last one I replaced, the housing was nearly cracked in two, BH. From running petrol fuel in it, that is.
Does a fair bit of damage, that mistake.

Petrol has no liberation as diesel does. As Roo stated. The accident of putting petrol in the tank can cause massive problems as the high pressures of the common rail system is got by very tight tolerance components. Take the lube away and damage is done very quickly. Some times straight away sometime can take years after the fact.

Hey Obie how did you rectify you issue with your Scv as mine is doing the same thing
