turn wheels to left, remove part of rubber wheel arch cover thing on left hand side, remove connector on back of injector pump, use allen key to undo the two small bolts holding the scv in. remove scv, retain all seals. remove circlip inside scv. remove plunger and clean all debris out of it. inspect for scoring/damage.

refit it...ive reused my seals 3 or 4 times, seems to be ok.

think that's all i used brake cleaner.
first time i pulled it out, i did not pull it apart. didn't have small enough circlip pliers.
second time dismantled and cleaned-start up problem fixed!
third time, removed and replaced the scv to try and fix another issue-didn't make a difference so yeah haha stil looking into that one....

if the scv is dirty or not working 100% what sort of issues do you have?

well for me, i would start it up...hot and cold, it would run very rough, sometimes stall, then clear it self out.

Surging under acceleration, Matty from Baileys also mentioned increased engine rattle in the thread he did about the SCV.

Just replaced mine on a 2007 KUN26R. The SCV was not very dirty and was quite free but it had high resistance across the pins. Should be 1.5 to 1.7 ohms. My symptoms were stalling when cold and surging at low RPM in 3rd gear (both intermittent). I couldn't get one from Toyota. They said you have to replace the fuel pump, so I got one from MTQ Diesel.

i have checked all conections etc.
my scv was put back in them same way as pulled out but if you look at diagram above the electrical conection is opposite to that one it is at the opposite side.

You have it back together backwards. The spring goes in so the valve is pushed back to the internal circlip. If you have the valve in the wrong way it will not run.

No, the orientation shouldn't matter...mine is the same as you describe, opposite the picture.
Boxhead is talking about the actual internals of the valve, you must have put them back together wrong.

no i didnt pull it fully apart as i didnt have small circlip pliers.
i made sure the o'ring and gasket where in properly and the scv was
a bit firm to push back in.
my neighbour (who is a old time mechanic) cracked an ejector line to see if any fuel was coming out of pump but there wasnt fuel is getting to the pump but not out.
is there a fuel cut off switch or fuse i could check to eliminate out of the problem

Here is some pictures of my SCV out of my 2007 Hilux with 118k km. pulled it off to satisfy my curiosity and to clean it, but ended up causing more problems when I reinstalled it (rough idle, cough when the A/C engaged, all but randomly stall) when it was pulled apart only noticed the slightest scuff marks on the piston but moved freely in the bore also the resistance check showed 4 ohms which may have been the cause?

(Don't mind the circlip, I broke it on the second time I dismantled it)

Forgot to mention, I ended up just buying a new SCV for united fuel injection for $225 and solved my problem I caused.
