Torqit Chip, Pedal Accelerator Chip and Exhausts

Postby Thomo55 on Mon, 04 Nov 2013 10:34 +0000

Hi guys,
Been trying to search on here for some feedback on the torqit range of chips and am finding nothing. If anyone has one post up in here and let me know your thoughts.
I was ringing the local shops around here to get a steinbauer and one of them told be about this one. It's basically identical to the steinbauer as it plugs into the injectors and they have it in stock. I like to do a bit of research before I purchase but I'm pretty keen on giving it a go. They have a 3 year warranty on the chips, 2 years on mild steel exhausts and 5 years on stainless exhaust. They also have the pedal unit which must be the same as the other accelerator modules out there..
Let me know what you think.. :D

Oh rito thanks for the response, did you go with the stainless or mild-steel? Not sure whether the stainless is worth the extra $$ for me yet :? .

have recently fitted a exhaust and chip and im not happy at all with the exhaust.
before installing the exhaust i had the chip on and was impressed with the performance, since fitting the exhaust there has been no real performance gain and my torque has dropped.
does anyone what this might be? could it be a fuel issue etc :?:

Hi Thommo,
I've fitted all 3 to various customers cars and have had only positive feedback. None have been returned.
The exhaust has definitely improved low speed torque on the vehicles I've worked on. It is well made and well designed and very straight forward to fit.
The pedal torque unit is mad fun, from what I have read very similar to a sprint booster. I would think it would increase fuel use though as it makes you want to flog the guts out of it all the time!
The fuel chips are well made and simple to install. The customers who have them are happy with the results. They give different results on different vehicles due to engine, tyre size, vehicle weight etc so I can't quote you a standard performance or fuel figure, you'd have to talk to a supplier who could give you reasonably accurate expectations for your vehicle.
From my perspective, for the price of the units, the fact that none of our customers have returned to complain sorts says they are happy with the result for the money. Customers who don't think they are getting "bang for their buck" are usually pretty quick to let you know.
Cheers.

Hey Thommo, did you ever end up fitting the torqit module? If so how have you found it? Any issues?

As I am currently looking at fitting a chip and have been slowly coming to the conclusion that steinbauer is the way to go!? However, I am running a 3inch sterling exhaust and apparently it is a little over kill for a hilux and will need a more expensive steinbauer chip to prevent turbo overspeed and subsequent limp mode, this model steinbauer chip retails at $2270!!! Is this true and has anyone paid this much for a chip??

When I bought the exhaust they told me the company has a chip to match all there exhaust systems and in this case the Torqit chip is the unit they have spent countless hours testing with my system and definitely recommend I go that way at only $1350. He did say that torqit does increase rail pressure but only very minutely and well with in Toyotas operating limitations and the torqit chip also increases pulse duration time as you cannot do one without the other!? Obviously steinbauer only claims to increase pulse width, which the tech believes is operating at another extreme!
Any diesel specialists heard of this or know if what I am being fed is true??? The torquit comes with 3yr warranty and 30 day money back.

I had a torqit chip and it S%^t itself. Rang Chris Jones from torqit and sent the chip to him to have a look. He said the chip was fine, nothing wrong with it etc. He even uploaded the latest software on there (Apparently). Got the chip back and it was still the same (wouldn't let the car start and produced the same effect as having the common rail pressure sensor unplugged.) I rang him back up and he said it couldn't be the chip must be the car etc. I tried different looms as well. Tried it on a heap of different hiluxes (I work at a mine so I drive heaps of different ones). It is the same on all of them. He now won't return my email. Poor customer service if you ask me.
