Fuel level low light

Postby Crawf.mech91 on Fri, 20 Sep 2013 10:35 +0000

Just curious if any one knows how far you can travel after the fuel light comes on? Has any one run out of fuel? Only asking cause last night was cruising at a high speed prob don't need to say on here but she chewed through the fuel and then had to drop back to sit on 90 when the light came on and I still had 40kms to go but I did get back but wondering how much further I could of gone!!!!

When mine comes on (petrol model) I am only able to put another 65 litres in so at 13.l per 100 ks I would get. About 90 k but would never try it out.
Obviously less if you drive faster.

Thats bang on!

Mine is the same I can put 65Lt in when the light comes on - the tank is 75Lt so you have 10Lts left so simply work out your Fuel usage!

You should be right as the 75Lt Tank does not take into account the fuel in the filler neck.

Oh and one last thing its not ideal to run the tank that low all the time becasue the fuel in the tank also keeps your fuel pump cool.

yeh i usually get in somewhere between 62-65 lt into it, fuel light comes on and i fill up at the next petrol station i cross in my tracks... so i wouldnt travel more than 30kms max till i found one its 40km travel to work 40 km home from work... but id estimate id get about 100km on the last 10 litres so to speak going by economy but you dont wanna run it dry or have it get that low that it splutters etc... plus means all the crap in the bottom of your tank goes through your system...

Was just thinking this the other day. was on my way home late at night coming into Perth with a massive storm so didn't want to run dry. Only just got the lux so hadn't tested it out. made it 50km to the next servo, and now after a few tests reckon I could go another 50 in a pinch. I think there's ten litres left when the light comes on. I put twelve litres in it to test out and sure enough the light came on pretty quickly afterwards.

Ive done over 70kms from the fuel light on (aircon off and 90km/h), and then pumped 73L of juice into it.
If In Doubt, Bridge It Out...

Hi there. First post as I've only recently got my 2010 SR ( used to have a old LN65..
I did the experiment when I first got the SR D4D , new filter installed and jerry can in the back,,, I got 140km from fuel light on to dead empty !! ( started to chug any way )

That was around town driving conservitivley !!!

Changed filter out straight after that experiment too !!!
