There is a member on here called Jap. Have A look as his build thread as he runs the fastest one on here if not Australia.

7 psi pulley... Will I have to play with fuel and timing for it to run right?

Also is there anyway of getting into the trans management? I know Toyota has softened up 1st gear to prevent damage?

Hello JUSTAUTOS

I guess you would be the best person to ask about the A750 and shift kit.

It's time for me to service my V6 Auto trans and while I'm putting in new filters I though it would be a good time to put a shift kit in it

Can you recommend a shift kit?

Also will it stop the Auto hunting for gears?

What is it like?

Does it just change gears faster or does it uncomfortably slam the changes?

Also will it stop the Auto hunting for gears on the hiway?

Hi guys thanks for the replys.

Fitted extractors and new system. Gained 30hp. Now 230rwhp on 275/70/17. Mid range much better. Destroyed the guts in the first free flowing muffler twice? Trying a different brand now which is holding together ok at the moment.

Had a Uni chip installed and then removed! The tuner could not adjust fuel mixture. Actually he didn't know how to! I know she runs rich from the dyno run readings. There is power there I need someone who knows what they are doing. The tuner uped the timing and gained 8kwatw. I was not impressed as I was told to expect gains of 20%. 8kw is barely 5% so I had them remove it out and recommended he learn how to use the product he supplies before promising gains he can not deliver.

I'm gonna fit a sprint booster. I have to judge this one for myself after reading so many different stories. Could have a cheap second hand one for sale soon or I could be loving it. If it removes the lag I will be happy.

Still need a chip/tuner!

Cheers

Hey JUSTAUTOS did you have the regular kit or the HD kit? was it too harsh when idling around town? did it upset the trans management at all?

Even though this is an old thread I would also like to know about this $125 shift kit you can DIY?
Anyone else have any info on it?

Here is a very good YouTube Vid on how to do it

Plus below is a link on how to service it - just look for "Jap" and his posts throughout this article! He went to a lot of trouble taking photos for us.

The Uni Chip is not a complex enough device to achieve what you want - call Bullet on 07 3382 0018

Also just to let you know that no piggy back has the ability on this engine to tune out fuel (a lot due to the fact the 1GR-FE ECU goes in and out of closed and open loop unpredickably) - you would have to increase power first like "more boost" etc then you use the piggy back to trick the ECU that the load has remained the same and that's how you get a leaner mixture.

But in standard form a piggy back cannot do this you would have to go to a full Motec or Autronic system $$$$$$

The standard ECU is far too complex and will also go from closed loop to open loop when it feels like so your tuner would have been stracthing his head as to what was going on as there is not set RPM or Load it does this in.

Also the Sprintbooster only intercepts and speeds up the signal Inbetween the Acc pedal and ECU - it does not control your intake butterfly your ECU still has full control. The Sprintbooster is just like moving your foot faster that's all!

Thanks Gulfstream. Changing the valve body is a fairly different job to changing some springs and shuttles in the trans valve body though. Would also have a rather different price tag?
Justautos above made the impression that he managed to firm up the shift with some components for $125 from a local shop, unles he missed a zero?
Did you end up doing either of the changes to yours?

I did it all my self mate and the kits only cost $125 but I a mechanic and I own a workshop so working with autos is easy. And the kit is the same as the vavle body mate just cheaper. They do them on exchange to u don't have to put the kit in.
