This is great hear. I have a 2010 with 47k on it and the injectors are noisy. About to have a fight with my dealer. Have been reporting it for a while when the ute is serviced. They can replace them out of warranty......

good luck with the fight

yer i was playing on the safe side as i do not want the injectors to go boom when im out on tour in july and seeing i have a little extra cash shitting around thought it would be a good idea.

also im out of warranty and own the car 3rd hand and id rather have the injectors changed this decade not next and properly rather then just thrown in to shut me up.

Happy to say mate, all is well.

Injectors had been out and seats changed over to the latest style, so no leaks there (and points to a reasonable service history). Before we started, quite knock-ie with idle correction figures up to crap. All good now. All that's left is a 'dead' cold start in the morning, then it will be happy trucking!

What reason would you need them to be changed at that mileage on a 2010 model with the revised injector seals?

Before you spend big dollars conduct a pilot learn as your ute can and will fix most issues.

Yep. Hellbound is bang on. The knock that you get in the early models is due to a lack of pre-injection. So this is why the later models come with a pre-injection learning. Run this, and she will quieten up.

As a side note, you still really need to keep an eye on the injector condition. I think that later on we're going to see more problems with these injectors / engines, but because of this band aid, you won't get that tell-tale of the knock. This learning thing is good, but if there are greater issues with the injector, it hides it until the problem is really concerning! (but this is no different to how a BT50 or ford ranger operates...)

Thanks guys. I wasn't aware they had revised injectors. Yeah you are right 47k is bugger all work however it is noisy. Will take your advice BH and ask them to perform a pilot learn when it's serviced next week. Thanks again

Have to use a crowfoot spanner.

Hey 07luxyTD yeah there isn't really any need to torque the clamps down but i have seen first hand as to what happens if the injector crush washers are over torqued and not replaced :o

IMO torquing those clamps correctly is one of the most important parts of getting the job done properly.
You don't want broken clamps & you don't want blow by.
Same with leakage pipes, you don't want an internal leak & fill up you engine oil with diesel. Then go & do it all again......
New DENSO Injectors are the go! New genuine parts.

Check your injectors about every 10,000k.

The TMC specifications are as follows.
Injector clamp bolt torque : 22Nms.
Leakage pipe injectors x 4 : 16Nms.
Leakage pipe outlet on the cylinder head, rear : 12.5Nms.
I always replace the injector pipe nozzle seals and the injector clamp bolt washers. Also, the five leakage pipe gaskets which Baileys Diesel Group do a lot cheaper than Toyota Parts.
Injector pipe union nut torque, new pipes : 32Nms. This includes the rail side and the injector side.
Injector pipe union nut torque, old pipes : 35Nms.
Crows foot spanners.
