After market fuel filters

Postby simpson1953 on Mon, 11 Mar 2013 3:44 +0000

Hi all

What are the thoughts of adding extra fuel filter in the D4D 3ltr Hilux 2012 not replcing the original but adding an extra pre filter. We plan on travelling over the next few years mainly outback areas and hear of people getting bad fuel in some areas.

Thanks

Ross

racor filters are a good investment. I also own a hilux d4d but used a water watch separator $495. I've placed this on the fire wall and hooked up the sensor to a buzzer and light onto a spare switch panel in the dash. Following this a placed a z200 ryco fuel filter between the separator and the std toyota set-up. The toyota set-up is only a sediment filter. The seperator does come with an electronic sensor in the base that goes off when water is present. The whole set-up does not restrict the fuel flow or pressure, the z200 fuel filter is 30 micron. This system i've installed should prevent any water reaching the std toyota system. The racor system does not have a warning device attached to it to my knowledge, hence you must check the water bowl regulary to assetain that water is present, by that time it could have already reached the std toyota system before the warning light comes on

No fuel filter/separator of any make will stop water if you get enough of it,

This is a fuel manager kit with a water bowl, from diesel care Australia,

Complete kit with mounting bracket is $300.

You can mount the fuel filter on the other side of the bracket if you have a duel battery system.

Did you end up getting the censer with it.its no use getting a prefilter with out the censer to alarm you that it has detected water in the system.mine has a buzzer and a light. I've got the same system as SRLUXX
