That's it, although I would strongly recommend removing the blue cap before installation :D

Ye, I reckon you will be very happy with the Bailey's injectors and their seats.
Just make sure you clean out your injector ports in your cylinder head, well and good.
Don't forget to enter in the compensation codes, that are on those pieces of paper.

Hi all
I'm fairly new here but have been doing a lot of reading on theses engines here. I work in the diesel industry and have a good understanding of older diesels but I have little experience with CRD's. Hoping someone could put my mind to rest.
I have recently purchased a 2010 d4d hilux 4x4 auto with 85 000ks on the clock. I have noticed the there is some tapping/knocking in the engine that I can only assume is injector rattle. I listened with a stethoscope and it defiantly seems to be coming from the top end and possibly the injector(s). I mainly notice the noise when the engine is at norm operating temp. It is fairly evident a highway speeds and can be described as high pitch as it can be heard above the stereo etc. is this just a characteristic of these engines or a sign of injector problems?
I have also noticed that with the auto, when travelling slowly through the lower gears I can hear a very evident
pitch change just before it changes gear. Possibly this is the ECM working with the auto to reduce fuel pressures but I'd like to know if anyone else notices it. Very evident in first gear.
It is possible that I'm being paranoid because I listen to engines for a living but with the cost of repairs to these motors Id like to put my mind at rest.

Edit: I should also ad that this is an SR model.

Thanks in advance

SWhilux;

These D4D's have what we call light load advance which is a position at VERY light throttle somewhere between 1650-2400rpm where they get a diesel rattle - that's just what they do. If that's the noise, then don't stress (please note, that to get this high revs with this low throttle, you're definately lingering in gear, and is not normally the driving style). IF you're noise is not described above, read on-

These later vehicles offer the option to do what they call 'pilot injection learning' via a decent quality scan tool. I would probably start with that on the Injector front and see if that cures your issues (i'd say its a fair chance) and if it doesn't, as always its easier to get the smaller issues out of the way first.

At this time, you're probably coming up to wanting to clean out the intake and EGR system as this can also help. Auto transmission - i no bloody help at all!

For the best piece of mind, you can't beat getting a diagnostic tool plugged in and having a look at the total injection volume and the feedback values done at cold start up.
Ye, as Matt said, clean your EGR system and throttle body.
Fitting a catch can after you have cleaned the EGR system will stop that build up.

Thanks guys much appreciated
I'll get the cold start compensation test done at toyota this week and work from there. We have a snap on scan tool at work so I can look further with that also. Plus I will get a tech stream ordered too so I can monitor those injector values. I'm also returning 13l per 100 with 31/10.5 tyres and bullbar, arb canopy and duel batts. No lift. Does this sound excessive as my old work car also auto d4d returned 10lper 100 standard. Same car

If you have access to a Snap On Solus, there should be the software in there mate, to check your vehicle for what we have discussed in the above posts.

Depends on the person diagnosing. A dead give away is a hissing noise heard through the oil filler cap when running.

If you have never done them I would now. They should be done every 40 000 km

i couldnt hear anything there was way to many other noises with the belts and fan etc

by the way its parked nose up in the drive way and started perfect.

what i dont get, that if its such a common problem and can lead to a major engine failure. Then why dont toyota just have a set list of things to check and do when someone comes in and describes the exact problem. and these motors are not just in hiluxs

why do i have to go in and tell them how to fix their motor :?

Because you are the exception. Most people want the bare basics and don't want to pay for anything.

Mine has a lot of blow by with the oil filler cap removed, with a pulsing sound. Is this normal ?

Nope you need injector seals my friend. It is more a hissing noise tho. If they have not been replaced within 40 000 km time to do it.
