see my build for pics.
The front of the tank sits approx 35mm lower than the chassi rail, at the lowest point (just before the tailshaft makes an appearance) it sits approx 50mm below the rails

Depends on what type of terrain you would like to take on, I have the 140l and it hangs lower than my rocksliders :( it is pretty strong however I have had 2 big hits to it, and from those I think I have lost 5-7 liter capacity.
The bad thing is I always worry about the tank when driving over rocks, ruts and fallen trees...

If anyone has a good idea as to protecting a long ranger tank from being hit, I'm all ears...

Does anyone know if the fuel sender is involved with the km/l reading?

Dont even bother with that mate. You should change it to L/100 anyway but if you want to keep an eye on it buy a scan gauge. The stock ones arnt even close to being right.

In answer to your question i believe not. The fuel sender would only tell the ecu how much fuel is left and therefore the range. I believe the rest is done in the engine somewhere

ordinary scanguageII is what i have, does a pretty good job. I only wish it could do analogue style gauges, but that would alter the form factor

As everyone has stated, you will get around 350k's with the fuel gauge on full. From there it'll read the same as a standard fuel gauge. I know I get 10.1 litres to the 100k, so it's easy to work out how much fuel I have used at any time. I always reset the odometer at each fill. I can get over the 1000 km's to a tank, but have never taken it to near empty. Only down side is that it hurts the back pocket to refill when the tank's down a bit.

Hi lads im trying to decide between the 128 or 140l tanks, what's your opinion?
Does the 140 hang too low and does anyone wish they had the 128l or vise versa? I don't do hard core 4WDing just touring but like having good clearance under the chassis, I'm running Buds customs sliders, should the track get a bit narly.
Cheers,

Mate I run the 140, sits nice and snug. Think I have some pics on my build thread but no problems. Awesome bit of kit I reckon

the 140 is cheaper and higher capacity, but sits lower

hope that doesn't confuse you to much

True packeteer but I guess it all comes down to what you are going to get up to offroad. Im happy with mine it suits my use and with the 70 profile tyres and lift it looks out of the way enough for me!
