empty light comes on and I know I still have at least 25 litres or 200klm to get to a servo. Highly recommended, dont have to worry about hoping a servo is open after 6pm when out west, just keep driving!

Has any one seen or heard of any bash plates that are available for the long range tanks?
I have one and im worried about the putting a hole in it.
I have seen my mate in his hilux go up a\ rock steps and ledges, and the lowest point of the car is always the long range tank, and it cops a hammering, scraping and bashing its way up.

A bash plate would make this point lower, but id rather be hung up on the bash plate than get to the top of a step up, and have leaking fuel, then have to work out how to get out and back home?

Any ideas? Besides carring around a tube of putty to patch up the holes?

Mate they are pretty thick. Ide imagine you would have to be doing something pretty silly to puncture it. What do you plan on doing with your truck

1:40 in, My mates truck bellies out on a step up, and is sitting on the long ranger. This regularly happens.

so, is there a tank that sits a bit higher?

I'd be happy with a 100L tank as long as it sat higher than the chassis rails

Yep, the same company offers a 128L that is 15mm less than the 140L.
I got quoted last week for both from ARB and the 140L was cheapest because of the demand

If you have a tray back, there will be extra room above the tank. You should be able to use spacers to raise the tank up a bit.

The funniest part about you reading my signature is that by the time you read the whole thing from start to finish you only then realise there is nothing interesting in it.

From my experience all ARB corporate stores prices are relatively the same (minus or plus 50 bucks)
Only real difference is the stealers or agents with surplus

Well, I just filled my tank after running the ute for 40klm with the warning light on. Managed to squeeze in 128 litres,so I reckon I might get 140klm after the light comes on.

I have the 140L Long Ranger tank and very happy with it. I get 1200km out of the tank and on fill up i put in around 130 litres. Its great not having to fill up regularly and makes a road trip a lot easier and safer in my opinion. No issues with it scrapping but i also dont do hardcore 4wding. I wasnt too fussed with the "distance to empty" not working as i found it pretty inaccurate anyway. After a couple of drives you quickly work out when you need to fill up.

Got the Brown Davis 152lt tank fitted by Ritchie at Hume Off Road in Canberra, $1450 all in, 3 year warranty, very happy with it, still got to work out distances in relation to ltrs left in the tank when res light comes on, expensive, yes, but not really if you have no other options and the task was to big for me to handle with my limited skills and tools!!!.......later.......B

just finished my first tank of fuel from the 128L Long Ranger.
Got 1300km. about half highway, the rest was dirt roads and some wheeling. I ran it till it was almost dry, refilled w/ 127L!
the gauge showed full for the first 200km and the light came on with about 100km left.

overall I am happy with it

How far below the chassis rail does the new 128L tank hang?
Cheers

[Mine is the same approx 250kms, before needle moves off full around 30 litres left when the low fuel light comes on.got matching dents as they do sit abit low. had to get rust cleaned out of tank after 3 years, suspect alow grade of steel and genuine toyota 130 lr tanks are doing the same thing. :D
:D
same mate, arb fitted mine but have a couple of good dints in the bottom as mentioned it sits a bit low, still going strong tho.
fuel gauge works same but needle sits a bit long on full and empty for me, i could get around 240k's from when empty light comes on.[/quote]
