I would have to say there was about 5 - 10 liters in my tank... before fuel came out clean... in the filter housing... I would have pulled 50ml at least... I still have it in a bottle... including the brown sludge that was with it... it sits(Floats) between the water and the diesel....I plan on getting it tested to find out exactly what it is... but I think it is diesel fungus... How to drain a standard tank... remove it and tip it upside down... good luck with that... and being plastic.. you cant even get a drain bung installed... that has to suck big time..

Mark the stuff you are looking at sounds like CLAD (the fungus) I see toyota is selling cans of anti fungus stuff.

I fitted the water probe to the Raycor filter today...very very easy to do. took about 15-20 mins at most. I fitted the orange LED to one of the blank switch covers near the cig lighter...Cost was $138.00 inc..

Even got the wife and oldest boy out to the car and made them look at the light...told the wife to stop straight away if it comes on....the lad is only 4 but I think he will notice it before the wife will ;)

I got home the other day to find the lux with only enough fuel to get me 3kms according to the computer.. filled it up and it had 5 lts left in the tank..I went off my nut

:x

But I checked the filter bowl and there was NO gunk in it ...but I am sure the lux's fuel gauge will not see the wrong side of a 1/4 tank ever again ;)

At one time i drove to the servo with 800 km's on the clock. filled it up right to the brim and found another 6 litres was still in there. If my calculations are right i could have done another 60 km's which i think is good. also changed the fuel filter a few months ago and had that sludge in it too.

Your local Toyota dealer should have it on the shelf....about $16 a can.

It shouldn't clog the filter as it will kill thwe clad (fungus)...and when its dead it will drop out of the fuel water interface.

For those who don't know..CLAD grows "between" the water and the diesel..not in 1 or the other... and you will only get it if you have water in your tank...

If you get some gunk out of your filter it might not be clad...it might just be other goop from the tank.

Yep thats the stuff... I use Fuel Doctor.. only problem was I forgot to take it with me on holidays... I put it in every tank I fill up where I am suspect of the fuel... (outback stations) generally I fill up only at large truck stops... if they serve up bad fuel ... word gets around pretty quick... anyway Fuel Doctor is a Castrol product..
