In the Pilbara I average between 11-12/100, whilst in the city (Perth) I get down to 9-10/100
Gotta love the. Cooler weather and thinner air

is it worth putting 2 stroke in how much do you put in and is it bad for the motor?

Trust me it makes a huge noise difference. I was a sceptic till I tried it myself. Now every fill. 375 mm 2 stoke goes in my 75l of dsl.

I am converted.

What about warranty with toyota? I'd be a bit skeptical trying it to find out they won't cover

D4D Fuel economy

Postby boxhead55 on Fri, 11 Apr 2014 9:36 +0000

I work for them and heaps of people do it. A bit of lube is not going to hurt anything.
When servicing you can tell the ones running it as they are way quieter.
Sometimes the customers even say on pick up. "The ute is nice a quite a?"
To which I answer " yep 2 stroke oil works a treat"
They look a little shocked but then agree

Can only benefit.

Well except for you hip pocket, after buying the 2 stroke

After reading this thread I have been to the shop and got some 2 stroke lube. Put 700 into a full 140l tank tonight. Let's see how it goes.....

Yeah I must say that the cold start is bloody noisy. Rather off putting in purchasing another diesel engine vehicle .

OK guys I am getting stumped...economy on my 08 TD has dropped to 14l per 100km. Measured every tank since new. With all the fruit it reduced to 11.5 - 12 which was expected.
Cleaned, MAP, MAF. EGR, reduced tyre width etc....
Thinking now I have nothing left but to do new service, fuel filter and get Toyota to "flash" everything possible on the rig

Okey dokey, got the old girl serviced again....got them to run the diagnostics over everything. Seems injector 3 was out of spec (no more detail than that) Got a new fuel filter and an injector flush to in the hope it brings it up a little (gotta monitor from here) Feels a lot more responsive off idle...but may be my imagination. Hopefully fingers crossed I dont need to replace the injector

2010 my 11 d4d 4speed auto 29000 km on the odo
Accessories.
265/65 r17 h/t, Snorkel, pro rack whispbar roof racks, second battery, UHF, tow bar, 10mm thick conveyor belt tub mat, tub liner, soft tonneau and 3" exhaust

Carries approx 220 kg daily including driver

674 km on trip computer prior to refuel
68.22L fuel to refill
7.78l of fuel remaining

68.22/674 = 0.1012 x 100 = 10.12l per 100 km
7.78 x 10.1= 78.73 km remaining approx
Total range of 674 + 78.73 = 752.73 km

$ 1.55 per litre x 68.22 = $105.74 cost for refuel
$105.74 / 674 km = 15.68 cents per km

This is mixed driving in both peak and off peak hours of the day, city and highway driving

2013 SR5 d4d 5 speed manual standard spec 265/65/R17 Road Tyres as stock.

8.1L/100km. Just around town stuff and the occasional long journey. I regularly see 800kms on the Range.
