Indeed, especially with high tech diesels.

Sorry guys, have been very busy.
You will have to change out those seats. I suggest with the Bailey's group seats, as they are the best.
Blow by is a serious issue, and this is the only way that you can fix the problem.
The injector ports will have to be cleaned so they are spotless.
A piece of dowel and a sock is the go for this. I sometimes spray carby cleaner on the sock to get them clean. They must be clean.
Yes, I am in Brisbane.
Your funny Matt White. Your post always make me laugh. Keep up the funny posts, I say.
Catch you later, the Roo.

The mob that I took the ute to to get the over charged to do the job and they were chuffed that they managed to do the job 6hrs. I have never taken the ute back there and never will.
The plan in a few weeks once I save some money is pull the engine out, sump off, clean it all out, intake and exhaust manifolds off and thouroughly cleaned and reinstall with a catch can, new injectors and seals(I'll call you in a couple of weeks Matt).
Hopefully then she'll be all good again.
Kris.
If I had a dog that looked like him, I'd shave it's arse and make it walk backwards.

Hey guys great forum, i have been reading this thread intensly as i am currently in the process of upgrading from my 4runner to an 05-11 TD hilux dual cab. Just a quick couple of questions, will the injector seats and oil pick up change be in the service books if it was done or is it not a scheduled servicing item?
Also if i did buy a pre 08 model can any of you guys recommend a good shop to have this work done in brisbane?
thanks Scott

There is no oil pickup change. You would have to lift the engine and drop the sump to get at it. The seats are every 40,000. As for a good mechanic in brisbane message Talktheroo above. John knows these engines inside out and he won't bullsh@t you.

Ate too many sour grapes?

Denso Australia, who cares. It will just be skeleton staff soon any way, and they will be begging for any business, just to keep their jobs.

I have a 2008 KUN26R with a rattle from cold , it sounds like one or two injectors doing it the most , i was thinking of getting Baileys injectors fitted so there is no risk of engine damage and improve my long term survival prospects

can people tell me if DLC's would be fitted to my model ?

If i have DLC's is there still value in replacing all the injectors with BDG ones to have better tolerances and therefore better fuel economy and engine life ?

I will be doing the MAF and MAP clean plus cleaning sump pickup too.

Have you got residue on your sump screen?
Basically, the 23670-39316 injectors fit all 1KD-FTVs. It was the last of the solenoid type injectors made by Denso.
The best thing that you can do, is get a diagnostic service carried out. That way, you will know where you are with your injectors, feedback values, etc, and what type of injectors you have installed in your vehicle, by reading the compensation codes.
This is the best and cheapest way, to keep an eye out on those injectors, diagnostic service, that is.
2008, you should have the 23670-39316 DLC injectors fitted.

As an extension of what Roo has stated, the 39316 injector can be fitted to all 1kd's however the euro 3 won't code up.
As a blatant plug, our euro 3 injectors (095000-8290 - 2005-08/2006) come with the complete DLC 'fix' > although the DENSO DLC injectors aren't all their cracked up to be... We're seeing nearly as being sent back to us as non-DLC. Stay posted > all will be explained in a little bit ;)

Hi Guys,
I've just had The roo (john) go over my hilux 2005 model and will get him to change out my old injectors. He was excellent and knows these rigs inside and out. It can be difficult to find honest reliable blokes to do the work and give you feedback that your are confident and secure with. I would certainly recommend John's advice on these injector issues. The peace of mind to know that the engine isn't going to have a major catastrophic event that you'll think about selling your first born is a good thing

This was sent to me today from one of our members who found this in the archives of the internet. Seems Toyota have been recalling Hilux's and Landcruisers for quite some time on this issue in Europe.

Thanks for the link Spudand Jane :D
