I got to know about them on the last mine I worked on. They were having heaps of issues with water in diesel and installed them on all light vehicles.
They had it setup so it would cut the ignition once water was detected in the unit.

I've just fitted Water Watch to my new 2015 HiLux.......1000km on the clock and it was supplied and fitted by my local Toyota dealer.

Hey Pete22, how much did your Toyota dealer sting you for the Water Watch unit including fitting.
Cheers.

I think it was in the $800 region.......I don't have the receipt with me as I'm out on the track. While it seems expensive, IMHO it is without a doubt the best piece of aftermarket insurance you can fit to a common rail diesel.

Try asking some marine accessory outlets, not many inboard boats without one.

Just a word of warning to anyone installing a Water Watch system. The buzzer is LOUD!
Not only is it loud, but it sounds each time you start up (as a sort of system check).
Worried that I wouldn't be able to hear it if it was obstructed, I fitted it through the side of an aircon vent. It's out of sight, and completely unobstructed (unless of course, I close the vent).
Believe me when I say it won't matter how loud I have the stereo going, or how deaf I may become, I WILL hear the warning if it ever goes off. I guess this is a good thing, but wow.
In hindsight, fitting it behind the dash probably would've been fine.

Out of curiosity, where did Toyota put the buzzer?
