I only trust the guage for indicative purposes only, including the fuel light... Ive smashed and bashed my LR tank up quite a bit.. The most I ever got into mine was 132 litres and that was when it was fairly new...
I trust the odo over the tank gauge.. as tyre size plays a signifcant role in fuel economy..
1100ks is when I start to look for a fuel stop in the cityon 29's and on 32's about 950ks Running them too low can be detrimental as well as you can pull all of the crap up from the bottom of the tank.
At 1100ks on 29's I get on average about 123 - 128 litres in for a fill when the light come on..

Kermie I had mine fitted by ARB Townsville. Highly recommend 1 as gives U more touring range, U don't have to fill up as often and more room to carry other stuff in the tray. My trip computer no longer works accurately and fuel gauge still thinks original tank is on as needle dosn't move until I have done a few hundred km's. Small prices to pay. I also get comments it looks like a jet fighter fuselage as side steps have been removed. Quite funny.

You will always save money by filling up when the fuel prices are low, having double capacity will give you a double chance. Think I made sense

Get a scan gauge, it can be programed for the extra fuel and it is very accurate.

Google Brown and davis and read other peolpes comments . You'll see what I mean . I ended up with the Long Ranger tank and Iam very hapy so far . Also worth a look is Long Range Automotive , They were helpful whilist I was searching ...

One was fitted to my 06 model when I bought it. Gauge stays on full for about 390k's. I get about 1100 k's to a tank, so there's no real concerns. Once the needle starts moving, it behaves like a standard gauge.

That is pretty much the price that ARB charge to supply and fit a LR tank over here

I'm still in two minds whether to pursue a gas conversion or go long range tanks.

Gas seems to be creeping ever closer to petrol cost-wise, and would be a few grand to have a decent job done, rebate is only about $750 now I believe

So that's several years before the gas would pay for itself (and several years of a few grand that could have been sitting in my own bank account or sitting on the mortages reducing interest).

Which makes me think I'll just go long range tank (purely for better range and less times filling up, there's obviously no cost benefit other than perhaps buying fuel when the price is down a little).

But then i think hmmm , gas IS cheaper.

Wonder what gas will do over coming years.

Depends on whether you plan on doing much touring as there is no gas available out in the bush

Yeah lots of touring, but i do spend most time in city when not away on weekends.

Most places I go offroad to often would have "gas" available at a town on the way to said spot (at major towns and what not). Not plannnig any big desert trips.

At moment I just take a 20litre jerry with me , have never actually needed it (well other than starting fires, powering the genny, or filling a mates quad bike!)

Only exception would be a big trip up to Coral Bay / Ningaloo / Yardie Creek ... prettry sure theres no gas anywhere near those places.

Random question but has anyone with this tank bowed the bottom of theirs inwards rather than the normal slightly poking outwards?? Mines been in less than a month and ive done it already I must lose a small amount of capacity to but i dare say it would be minimal. Not really any damage to the tank so im guessing it happened resting on some mud or something. Not really a problem just curious to see if it has happened to anyone else

Mine looks like its been in a demo derby. Stoved the sides in a bit as well. Have pushed the base up about 30mm in the deepest place. Got scaring from the leaf spring rubbing against it as well.. Most I can comfortably get into it now 123L...
Its nearly as rusted as the Sygna on Stockton beach as well.
Its a great tank. Tough as nails.
