d4d low fuel light

Postby dino12 on Sun, 26 Oct 2014 7:45 +0000

have used the search but no luck on this one. this concerns the the low fuel light next to the fuel gauge, not the diesel warning light which warns about blocked filter and water in bowl. the light on the low fuel warning came on, when supposedly above the reserve level. I did bout 50k after the light came on and still had 16 litres left in the tank when I filled up, so I had probably 25 litres left when the light came on. after I filled up and reset odometer I started engine and noticed the low fuel warning light to the right of the fuel gauge was still on. I cycled engine start and stop 3 times to see If that would would reset the light, but no luck, still on solidly. any advice here? is there a trick to resetting the light or is there a fault here somewhere that needs to be fixed? also noticed while playing with this one, that the engine check light stays on after the dash self check is finished, but goes out after the engine is started. did a check with my primitive scan tool, and no codes found. i assume it's normal, just thought I would check. the low fuel light is the real problem. any help appreciated.
cheers, dave.

My low fuel light comes on when I have about 12 lts left, and goes out when I fill the tank. Looks like you have a fault to me.

Mine has the same problem with the low fuel light permanently on. Got it serviced today and they say it just needs a new fuel filter
