Anybody ever used this?

Hey guys just came up on this thing...anybody ever used it or its a piece of junk? It gets installed right before the air filterImage.
I guess it should rotate the air volume into the filter thus increasing the volume that enters.I am worrying though if it works the other way and the blades get in the way and interrupt the incoming air volume.

Been around for years. Has been called different names if I recall correctly.

I have never seen any sensible confirmation that it works !!!

Snake oil.....
Waste of time,money....then you have the worry of when its going to fall apart and go through your engine.

I always thought these were a joke too, but it got me wondering when I installed my snorkel and found a section of my intake that looks exactly like this (except all black of course, being a factory part), so the Toyota engineers obviously considered it worthy of fitting to the V6.

food for thought...

The theory behind them is solid.
And when designed and tested to work specifically with an engine they will produce power gains. That's why there are are some factory intakes that include fins to produce a swirl action.
HOWEVER, these cheap aftermarket vanes that you place in you intake were never included in the original design of your engine or its intake system. All it will do is cause a restriction in the intake.
Any, promotional videos or dyno results from these companies would most likely have been acheived by a lot of trial and error, with regards to which vehicle to use and where to place it in the intake.

The one on the v6 is to act as a pre cleaner, if you pop it out the intake is double skinned so dust can be pushed out to the edge and dropped out of the drain boot in the bottom.

Seeing a lot of these in factory air boxes when fitting snorkels of late. Mostly on the inlet of the air box tho. Maybe to quieten intake noise? Dunno?
