G'day all,
Had some dramas with water in the fuel. Got one bad tank of fuel that resulted in a blocked filter light (light on solid), carried out the IA and took it to the dealer, all changed, light gone. Got another tank and had the water in fuel light (flashing) and carried out the IA, opened up the drain on the fuel filter housing, cleared the water. Unfortunately (?) I gave the car to my independent mechanic for something else and who gave it a test drive. He complained to me that the light was flashing and the buzzer going. I asked if he had done what the little book says and drained the water and the conversation trailed off somewhere else... Now I've got new injectors coming! Lesson, experience doesn't mean everything otherwise all taxi drivers would be like Michael Schumacher. Thankfully insurance is coming to the party.
Of course draining the filter housing squirted fuel/water all over that side of the engine bay because I didn't have a hose handy...
Has anyone fitted a drain hose to the valve on the filter housing? What size hose do you use? I can't ask the Indie now because he's a goose. I have a drain hose for my Provent (that may take years to fill up) but not for my fuel filter housing which could well be needed to be drained regularly if a bad tank of fuel is picked up.....
