SCV valve? Actual pressure -3000kPa from Target

Postby robf300 on Thu, 14 Aug 2014 8:45 +0000

Just a quick one, did a few readings on my car from cold to warm:
At Cold:
The target common rail pressure is 35640
The actual common rail pressure is 32730

At Warm:
The target common rail pressure is 33400
The actual common rail pressure is 30600

It variates a bit but always seems to be about 3000 down...

That's about 435psi - which is about halfway towards what would be considered out of scope (+ or - 750+ psi)

I replaced my SCV that had roughly the same variance as yours and noticed no real change. It'll never be exact as the ECU's just aiming for the target pressure as an ideal under the conditions the engine has that very fraction of a second.

From what I see, I would say that is pretty standard.
I would not replace it, unless you are having other issues. Running rough?
New DENSO Injectors are the go! New genuine parts.

Check your injectors about every 10,000k.
WARNING check oil pickup screen is clear
no chips no tune ups - why increase risk of piston cracking?

The car seemed to be running OK, maybe a bit down on power. It has been noisy in the cold with rattles/knocking since I've had the car.
I ended up pulling the SCV apart, found no obvious damage, and a small amount of dirty build up on the piston. Cleaned it up and reassembled and all seems OK. Maybe a bit quieter in the cold running.

Cheers for the help

You need to do a cold start diagnostic, Rob.
Have a see where those injectors are, mate.
catch you later, John.
Passing through country and seeing country are two different things.
