What Brand 3 Inch Lift kit ?

I have owned a tough dog (adjustable) lifted 2004 hilux and i now currently own a caloffroad lifted 2012 hilux, i would never use tough dog again, compared to the Bilstin's from cal the tough dogs are rough and unrefined defiatley worth the extra coin to up grade to cal/Bilstein

Hey Fellas,

Has anyone had any experience with the Old man emu 3 inch kit (with strut spacers and diff drop)?

Cheers

I used to have the OME before. On the hilux i put the 2,5" RAW but it came up more than 3".No comparison between the two.RAW is much more nicer off road and on road.No binding no noises no nothing at all.

Guys, after using for years OME I gave a chance last week to Procomp 3 inch. As I am never carrying heavy loads with me the idea of keeping the original springs in the back was very good for me (both comfort and financial). I drove it a lot on the street (over 1500 km last week) and a few kms on some dirt roads. Very high lift ( more than 3 inch advertised but for the moment Hilux is stock - no bumper and no winch), front sitting 2 cm higher than the back (only canopy).
Very comfortable and smooth but unexpected good control and road hold(I would have expected less from US brand and setup). Same remarks offroad. A lot of articulation especially on the back wheels. Honestly speaking better then expected.....much better...

yep agree cal off road is very good gear.. the guy is more then helpfull.. i went with the billies cant fault them.. and a little story of how well these stand up.. 6 months ago i got them fitted from major 4x4 shop call shocks with king hd springs set on bottom groove 2 inch.. and off we went all over vic high country up some rough tracks along thousands of kms on tar say 10000kms in total ride was great off and on.. then bang knock knock 1am near thredbo snow on our way to tom groggin.. pulled over the whole shock had moved off center.. . next morning limped in to jyndabyne rang around found jyndy automotive.. the guy was great and did his best to get us back on road.. rang call off road he was so nice and helpfull and together with auto shop call sent me a strut top as it was crapped out.. bottom line is they FORGOT TO PUT BOTTOM WASHER ON SHOCK.. RESULT ONE DESTROYED STRUT CAP AND ONE WORN DOWN upper shock shaft to the point of auto shop didnt want to ut back in but we had to get back home 600kms.. anyway dropped tire to 28 psi drove this thing home and rang 4x4 shop.. ALL WAS GOOD THEY ADMITTED faut and covered the whole cost to me.. now in saying that all worked out in end.. but just what could have happned ???? this german strut survived a flogging and ill post pics of it lol bottom line go the billies they will get you home :) :D :D :D :D

Do you need to extend your break lines at all when installing a cal 3" lift kit with diff drop?

Times two on the last post. The one member who said he got cal 3" lift and brake lines has since left the forum. Nice to hear what people have done with the brake lines, some say nah she'll be right mate while others say go extended lines.
Well, I've got to get back to work. When I stop rowing, the slave ship just goes in circles.

Hi lads,
Sorry to dig up an old post, but all my searches led me to this thread.
I'm new to this forum so you will have to bear with me.

I have recently purchased a 2010 dual cab, and I'm looking at putting a lift on it.
I have been looking at both tough dog 3" and 2" touring kits from snakeracing.
I get away camping and off-roading as often as I can, and have found on a few occasions that I don't have the ground clearance that I would like to have. (My side steps are showing a few bruises)

A friend of mine has reccommended the 2" as it has less of a negative effect on general performance, and will not require any additional work after installation. He mentioned that with the 3" there may be other work that is needed to get optimum performance/less wear.

Am I safer getting a 2" over a 3", or is my mate just warding me off because he would be jealous if I had an extra inch?

Cheera in advance

Do you need to have the car wheel alignment done after putting in the cal off-road 3 inch lift? Think I'm going to buy this kit later in the year and I live in remote far North Queensland.

Well I recently put OME in to replace stock, and defiantly need a wheel alignment. At a guess, I would say so mate.

If it for a gen8 the rekons should still be good
If it's for the "08" listed in your sig then your in the wrong section,
Ome have a nice set on the market, but my self idd stick with MR
farting is alot like jxxxxxg off. both provide instant gratification, but neither is a long term solution to the actual problem......................

LIFT KIT ADVICE PLEASE !!!

Postby Rowsell on Tue, 14 Jun 2016 7:13 +0000

Looking at buying my own kit and getting some mates to help me do it? I'm wanting a 3 inch lift, what kit shall I buy and is it fairly easy to assemble as a few of us have general knowledge about this stuff,? Also is it illegal being a 3 inch, would I need a certificate??

Thanks in advance
