Hello dudeoftheworld

The Toyota Tacoma has a different weight and balance to our Hilux and from personal experience Bilstein is one of the very few shock manufactures that actually gets the Valving correct for Australia and our Hiluxs.

Plus there are a lot of copies and fakes out there. I have tried other brands and manufactures and nothing! Absolutely nothing comes close to the performance of a Bilstein shock

Phone Sydney Shock Absorbers and speak to Tony or Paul Joyner. Paul actually did the R&D work for Toyota Australia on their TRD Hilux. 02 9557 5930 or try http://www.bilstein.com.au

These guys are honest and will only sell you what you need. They are not salesmen who work for a 4X4 supermarket

I hope this helps

Stock springs are fine if your are not adding weight to front end with bar , winch etc

Yeah it's Gunna have a ARB deluxe winch bar on it and later probably a winch. I really want a smooth ride on the road as that's where most of my traveling will be done. Mainly just want to hold the front up with the bullbar as I understand the standard suspension is a bit average for that

I ran the standard springs with the billies for about 12 months and they were fine until I fitted a bar and winch then upgraded to King springs

King sprigs seems to be the go with the bilstein shocks, toowoomba steering have a pretty good deal going on their website This is an extract

"Bilstein/King Springs/Super Pro Enhancement kit to Suit 2005 - Toyota Hilux
Kit includes front & rear Bilstein Shock absorbers, front HD Raised King Springs, rear HD raised King’s leaf springs, 2*grease able rear shackles, 2* grease able shackle pins & Super Pro Shackle bushes."

$1694 inc gst
Installation extra

Seems ok yeah?

Personally I'd probably opt for let hd rear springs as I want comfort and won't be carrying much weight

Has anybody got any part numbers? I know you can get the 3" adjustable 5100 series out of the states for way cheaper than anyone in AUS. Just wondering what the number is for the 2" lift rear shockies?

I've got the Kings/Billies combo and am very impressed indeed.

Much more damping action even on small fast corrugations.

Hey Guys,

Cheers from Miami/USA. Brand new in this forum and it is actually my first post here. Hopefully somebody in this thread can and throw me in a good piece of advice.

I own a 2006 4 Door 5 Speed diesel KUN25 LUX. I own this truck but it is located in Colombia South America, were Luxes are as popular as in AU with the difference that 95% of users leave their trucks OEM and the off roading market is NOT as popular as in the US and AU. Kind of ironic when you have all the places you can go off road (dunes, deserts, jungles, swamps, mud lands, you name it) and everything is LEGAL, and no insurance Issues like AU when modifying cars! Sky is the limit...
I want to get some Bilsteins and if If getting Billies in the US is much more cheaper(somebody mentioned it earlier in this thread) than AU, I will be a happy camper! Can somebody give me the part number of the front shocks if I would like to lift the car 3"? and what will be the best springs/coils that i would need with the Bilsteins if i am adding and ARB winch Bar and I will be adding a Winch as well.

I saw a site in AU which is Caloffroad, they seem to be hightly recommended by lots of member here, and offer a good 3" kit but shipping to the US will be highly due to freight distance.
But i am pretty sure i can find them here in the US, and get a Coils combo to fit with them and get those 3" lift. I would also be adding teh ARB bar and warn winch. So coils need to be stronger than the OEM and right height to fit the Bilstein travel.

Right now I have my car with ARB front and back shocks with OEM coils/springs so the ride height is stock but i have seen a great improvement as far as dampening goes. ARB offer springs that are much better than OEM and stonger but they will only lift the LUX about 30mm and i am looking to get 3" to fit some 32 or 33.

Once the front is lifted 3" what do i have to do in the back then to bring it up?

Hope anybody can help in the great OUTBACK!
Cheers

Dude, and for all of you guys inquiring about this....

I know this is and old post and I hope you have found the part numbers. Just wanted to throw out my 2 cents of experience because I just did this and was able to.

Tacoma (FRONT ONLY)Bilstein shocks DO FIT our Hiluxes, The front end are identical as the FJ Cruiser, Hiluxes and Tacos share same front end components. Now, later I found out that for the REARS the only difference between Tacos and our Hiluxes is that in the rear new Tacoma shock the top is STEM mount to eyelet in the bottom, Vs. our eyelet to eyelet in our current 05-UP hiluxes. The rear part no. for the 5100 Tacoma bilsteins is the following: this will NOT work on your Hilux, but i wanted to reference the part no. to find out the extended and collapsed measurements of this shock because they state it will work for Tacomas with 0"-1" lift in the rear. The part no. is 24-186728. I only wanted to reference the measurements to have a guide and found an eyelet to eyelet shock to match my fronts.

I live in the States, but my Hilux is in Colombia South America. I went ahead and purchased the Front 5100 Silver Adjustable Bilsteins with US part no. 24-186711 (BE5-C475-H1) 0"-2.5" adjustable height. Check them out on ebay, many sellers have them for around $199 US dollars for the front pair. I don't know how much will shipping to Aussie Land will be, might I think many of you guys down there will probably benefit from getting them from the US as AUS prices are waaaaayyyy ridiculous( dont know why) :o

This is going to kind of a long post, but bare with me guys because I know there might be a lot of people that might benefit from this specially when saving some money comes into consideration....

Since the rear shocks for Tacomas will not work but I wanted Bilsteins all around front and rear, now I was missing the rear shocks. I later found out that Tacomas from 96-2004 DO SHARE same rear shock like our 05- Hiluxes. The shocks are eyelet to eyelet and these are the Yellow Bilsteins 4600 Series. For some reason bilsteins does not fabricates the 5100 series (SILVER SHOCKS) for old Tacoma rear they do keep fabricating them in the yellow 4600 Series with blue cap.

Since I wanted to keep both Silver shocks front and rear, I went digging and digging for more info, and after long hours searching the net and calling a lot of local vendors I nailed it!!! I found out the the US BILSTEIN 5125 is silver and they have eyelet to eyelet like our trucks.

Check this out: The 5100 Bilsteins (SILVER ones) for Tacomas in the REAR like I mentioned earlier have a a Stem to Eyelet correct? Now based on this I went to the bilstein US online catalog in search for the original measurements for the 5100 in the rear for 0-1" lift. www.bilsteinus.com then click on online catalog, click offroad, and scroll down to Toyota Tacoma.... Viola!!!!!

The Extended measurements for the rear Tacoma shocks that will not work on our trucks are 14.02"Collapsed and 22.94" Extended for up to a 1"lift in the rear. ( so i wanted to keep those measurements as my guideline...)

I was running in my rig an OME Medium leaf springs in the back with OME shocks so I needed to find a Bilstein Shock with at least 15" Collapsed and 23" Extended ( a longer travel shock than this one) ideally 1"+ more since I have a 2"lift in the rear with a 33" tire like most of us that run a 2" lift in the rear... makes sense right?

Back to business, The part no. that you need if you have only up to a 1" lift in the rear is BILSTEIN 5125 Series (silver) eyelet to eyelet is the following: 33-185506 this is a 5125 series. For those looking for a even longer travel with a 2" lift I would recommend the part no. 33-186542 5125 Series too. Please note these are US part no. from the Bilstein US catalog and have a valving of 255/70 which is the match for our trucks and have a 14mm shaft. If you run a bigger lift than 2" in the rear the 5125 series offer longer travel applications, just make sure to look the online bilsteins us catalog to get the right part no. and make sure to look for a valving of 255/70.

For the rears I personally went with a 5150 series which has a piggyback reservoir and have a bit more travel than the last part no. I posted of the 5125 series. The part No. for this 5150 rear shock I purchased is 25-186307 15.89" Collapsed length and 25.91" Extended. They are sweeeeet!! I have not gone offroading since but I am flying down there soon and will let you guys know how they handle in the rocks and mud. Another thing, I was lucky in finding those 5150 series shock because Bislteins is no longer making them, they are discontinued as far as for the US market goes...

Well guys and Dude, I hope you have find my "long" post helpful. If you have any question please don't hesitate in sending me a PM.

Now that you guys know that new Tacomas do share front supension components with our HIluxes many of us might consider in upgrading for Coilover in the future like ICON, FOX and KING, which are great products and you can get a pair of front Coils for around $1000-$1250...

I will beat the SH.....T out of this Billies and later upgrading for ICON supension all around with Total CHAOS UCA, or ICON UCA which I have heard in the Tacoma Forums they are awesome will fit perfectly our 05- Hilux!

Cheer guys!

Badart I got some part numbers for you. Please note these are all US Bilstein part no. But they will fit our Hiluxes guaranteed.

I just did it and they work flawless and for maybe much less money you can purchase them in the US.

Depending on what and how want your set up I will probably guide you better, but normally all of us have 2" lift so for the front 5100 Series Bisteins your part no. is 24-186711

If you want the rear ones as well, It will have to be the 5125 Series. For a stock rear to a lifted application of up to 0"-1" in the rear your part no. will be this one 33-185506 14.06" Collapsed and 22.5" Extended. If you run or your plans are to run bigger/extended rear springs with extended shackes I will recommend a longer travel with part no. 33-186542. They will work perfect with a 2"rear lift. This last ones have a 15.11" Collapsed travel and 24.35" Extended as you can see they have 1" more in up and downtravel.

Hope this helps, if you have any questions.....shoot!
