Dangers of Strut spacers

$700 + fitting pre assembled 50mm ultimate springs and struts with after market top hats sounds a lot better for a levelling kit, rather then $220+ for 35mm strut spacers also eventually new struts at $200-280 each add all the labour on top x2 for going in the strut spacer direction
And you have close to a all round 50mm lift..

As they say you play you pay, but do it the safe and legal way (insurance  )
If anything think of your personal safety

Thanks for all the info

i got 2" ome at the front with no worries but i got constand in the rears and not much weight in atm, still waiting on a canopy and then i'l be able to fit all my tools in the back.

atm the rides fine but the front end is way lower then the back. like a 4" lift in the rear and 2" in the front.

Hi, Ome is not a 2" (50mm) lift, according to ARB it is a touring suspension upgrade which then raises the vehicle 30-40mm in the front and 40mm in the rear.
No 2 hilux vehicles are the same height after a lift both before and after the settling in period so how high your front end will be no one can tell you until after the lift is in and settled..

Ome is a tried and tested product which gets some good results, but all I can say and as most other forum users will too is make sure you do your research because not all suspension packages are for everyone. Plenty of threads on the subject
Here's one for you viewtopic.php?f=28&t=2339
Hope this helps

a friend of mine has the OME lift kit, but he got the front shocks fitted with 2" lifted heavy duty king springs and this helped it achieve the full 2 inches, also a lot of people seem to have issues with the OME front coils sagging, but other than that the lift kit is working just as good as my bilstein kit !

Image has anyone noticed that the upper control arm hits the coils when the wheel is in the air? I only noticed this after we installed the spacers, does it happen with just stock SR5 suspension?

Interesting read! I have a stock 2009 hilux sr5 and just brought 3 inch strut spacers for the front (aprox 75mm lift) and 2 inch rear shackles. After reading what I've seen here pretty sure now I'll be selling them. One question though. Is it only the front strut spacers that give issues mechanically? Especially the 75mm lift which I'd be getting....? Any issues with fitting longer rear shackles? Any info would be appreciated as I should have the set turn up in next few days

Good move. Just get a proper lift mate, so much easier and a much better result at the end. Extended shackles are illegal too.

What would you recommend for a lift kit (just for the front to begin with, as I want the truck to sit even) but will do the rear at a later stage. Is there any other mods required when installing a lift kit to get the truck level? For example, brake lines, abs cables, cv joint angles and relevant drive train components. All I want is reliability! If anyone knows of what I would require in the rear when I'm ready for that suspension upgrade let me know too. One other thing.....is it possible to use the stock struts with longer springs to get reliable lift?
