I have sent an email to cancel strut spacers.

I figured , since i payed so much for the convenience of having height adjustable coil overs ,i might aswell make the most of them.

I will call around tommorow, I live near melbourne airport, there is a few good 4x4 shops around i will ask if they have the spring compressor and see if i can get it done.

Cheers Dennis

I'm glad you did not take the advice to buy your own spring compressors. I saw a photo once of some in use on a Hilux spring and they were so badly bent under tension, that I threw my unused Supercheap compressors in the bin! Not safe for a Hilux spring. You need ones that bolt to the wall.

With the spring under tension, the thread binds and you risk stripping the thread on the coilover IF you have the strength to turn the nut on the shock body.

I wanted to slightly raise the front of my ute to level the rake of the vehicle and after a few months of reading mixed reviews, i finally went in to my local ARB/4x4 store and asked their opinion of strut spacers.

By chance they had a ute in the shop that had a broken strut due to spacers. So the answer is pretty simple, don't get strut spacers. For under $1000 i can get a pair of new OME coil overs that'll raise the front around 35mm and that seams like a no brainer.

Good choice! We have one of my wrecked struts in our showroom on display, is an eye opener for a stack of people!

Cameron, I'm glad you can back up the original post. Of course I'd much rather people ask VMN :) After all, we are the Hilux specialist.

Its hard to believe that I started this thread over 7 years ago and there are still disbelievers!

There are plenty of better options available on the VMN store, just follow the link in my signature below!

Yeah i was hoping a one page thread with big capitals "don't buy strut spacers" with heaps of support below it.

Unfortunately I'm in NZ so i don't have a huge amount of options and AU stores make it harder to get parts over the ditch.

Cameron, there are some AU stores that welcome customers that don't live in AU. VMN has customers all of the world including NZ. Last week we sent a roof console to Sweden and today I'm sending an order to Indonesia. Full integration with my DHL account and the store is shceduled to be completed by November.

And the good thing is; all we sell is Hilux N70 and N80 parts! So if there is something in particular you are looking for, send us a message via this link https://www.vehiclemods.net.au/contact-us

Try Superior Engineering
I'm in Auckland and I got a set of springs over Christmas in 3 days
Fantastic guys to deal with and I'm sure there are plenty more as well
Keep away from the strut spacers
