The size of the rim will affect the measurement. you should measure from the center of the hub to the under side of the flare. Mine is a stock standard SR5 DiD auto DC except for the 20" rims and the measurement from the bottom of the rim to the underside of the flare is Fr Driver=762, Fr Passenger = 765, Rear Dr=840, Pass=845. I checked mine while in my garage and it is sitting spot on level accross the tail gate and the bottom of the back window according to my laser level. I have been around 4 wd vehicles a long time and have always heard stories of OME suspension that goes off (ie sags or the shocks go soft) after a few months of use so I have always been pretty sceptical of OME although I have never owned their suspension. Has anyone heard of or used Powerdown Raw Nitro Max suspension?

I'll blame my dog TOMUCH!

He eats too much! 8-) oops! Pardon the pun.

On the other hand, I think the tray got slightly twisted when it was welded together, putting pressure on the back left side.

Cheers

I considered "Powerdown Raw" which comes from the area I live but decided to go down the Bilstein path. Powerdown have done most of there work with trucks, I have not heard anything bad about them.

Here's the latest on my suspension dramas. Going ahead and adding the extra weight of the long range tank and then Arb are going the change springs & leafs to suit. I'm hopeful this will sort it out

Since I got my second set of springs on the front, they have sagged about 10 mm. I think a standar Hilux is about 710 mm from bottom of rim to under the guard, so a 30 mm lift should sit at least 740. I probably wouldn't go with ARB / OME again if I had my time over.

G'Day All,

I would like to know if anyone has an opinion on Dobinson's suspension?

I am going through the same thing as WW, the full Dobinson's kit is $1300.

I have done many searches on the Dobinson's gear and it appears to get a wrap. All of Dobinson's springs are made in Australia and the shocks are made overseas.

Hi Tonym,
In answer to your query re Powerdown Raw Shocks, they are based in Newcastle and I very nearly put them on my old 80 series (got new hilux instead) Powerdown is one of Australias biggest supplier of truck shocks and have been around a long time, and started developing 4x4 shocks about 4 years ago. By all reports they are very good but finding out anything about them is hard. I have over the past12 months have sent quite a few emails and have also rung trying to get answers and prices. Have yet to be contacted by anyone. Very disapointing so am now looking elsewhere- EFS shocks and Carrolls springs. As far as Dobinsons goes, I know people who used to distribute their products but gave it up because of their terrible aftersales back-up. They actually told me to stay well away from them because of these and other reasons- they would not say. I hope to have one of the first EFS setups on my Lux- thay are still under development and are due to be released before end of financial year. STAY TUNED!!
Cheers
