Hi All

Here's another one for you to think about. Three weeks ago I had old Man Emu suspension fitted to the hilux approximate 2" lift. Parked on a level surface the ute appears to sit lower on the passanger side. Measured from bottom of rim to underside of guard & yep sits 2cm lower on passenger's side (still waiting for ARB to work this one out). Was going to fit a long range tank but I'm worried the extra weight on the passenger side will add to the problem. Has anyone else had this problem & how did you sort it out?

Thanks :-)

Hi (too much of a mouthful, so) WW,

I've got Tough Dogs Med. leafs 2"" lift with Firestone airbags & mine does the same @ the back!

I've no idea why? An answer would assist me as well.

Cheers

I've got ARB stuff front & rear and mine appears to sit level. I'll measure it tonight just to check though.
TONYM: The ride is much much better. Corrugations and dry creek crossings especially noticeable.

WW. I also had this problem when I got my OME lift from ARB. Albeit no where near as obvious as yours. My LHS was 5 mm lower. I asked my brother who is a reputable mechanic and his advice was that most cars are like this due to the fact you always have weight on the drivers side (ie the driver) and not always on the passenger side, so over time it will correct itself. Cars are never perfectly symettrical - However, it should not be 20mm. I would say 10mm at the most.

What are your measurments from the underside of the wheel arch to the bottom of your alloy rim (taken through the centre of the wheel) ?

Also, what are other peoples measurments who have had ARB lifts between these 2 points, lets all compare and see what it should be so we all know.

Cheers.

Mine is 736mm on the front left and 741mm on the front right.

Also, can someone with a new Lux with no Bullbar or winch please measure theirs, so we know what is standard. Ta.

I thought the ARB OME lifts were only 30mm lifts, not 2".

Hey Rich, Ref the 30 mm lift... I think it depends on what you have fitted (bull bar. winch) and what front springs you have fitted.. The constant load 250 kg springs will give a firmer ride with a bit more lift.. but that is somewhat negated by the bar and winch...

When I originally got my lift, it sagged back to the original level within 2 weeks (I have ARB Bar and winch). I took it back to ARB. They changed the front coil springs and told me that there was no difference in the rating (foot pounds) of the original toyota springs to their OME springs (ie they were exactly the same rating), just the length of the spring was different. So they replaced them with a longer coil spring to give me back my lift. Don't know if that is true or not.

I have no idea which coil springs I ended up with. That is why I am interested in other peoples measurments, including your's WW.

I don't think I got much lift at all, but never measured mine when it was standard so I can't be sure.
I have heard that lifting them more than 30mm makes them hard to get the wheel alignment correct and risks damaging CV joints, but maybe that is another unfound rumour.

If you got them fitted at ARB... they should have given you a sheet with all those measurements on it... they should have asked you to come back in 500KMs to check the heights... and this should also be entered on the same sheet... Hope this helps..TOMUCH ;)

It's been said to me that the slight sag I have on the passengers side at the back, could possibly due to a slightly twisted tray. Hmm . . . possibly!?

Cheers

From the bottom of the mudguard (or Flare) to the bottom of the alloy rim.
The tyre size or wear won't affect it.

heh, Front left = Driver
Rear Right = Fuel tank

i have this picture in my mind of your car going along like those toy cars, one with bigger/smaller wheels on opposing side.
(i know its not the case tho, and not anywhere near that noticable)
