Guys what are your thoughts on running these upgraded cv's
http://www.caloffroad.com.au/products/c ... .htm#Hilux CV

and no diff drop/relocation kit in a 2.75 - 3" lifted front end setup? I'd like to avoid losing ground clearance if I can and this seems like I could kill 2 birds with 1 stone here. In theory I get an upgraded cv setup and also don't lose any ground clearance. Too good to be true??

Rory,
I came across that too a while back, then I saw later on that someone reckoned they had them installed at superior lol. Now I see they're on the caloffroad site for the 2005+ hilux so I'll give them a bell tomorrow and find out for sure.

Hi All, What Diff Drop are people running?

I know you get what you pay for but wondering if there is anything out there worth getting that isn't $500 plus?

Cheers

Any that replace the diff mounts are the ones to get.... buds, phat etc. The spaces (washers and longer bolts) dont do much.

The mounts are well overpriced for what they are but so is everything in the aftermarket 4wd industry.
I might be wrong.

I have a cheap no-name spacer kit I got off ebay, I want to fit a Phat Bars kit to strengthen the diff mount when my lockers get fitted, but I already have the flat Phat Bars skid plates, so I either need to get the under diff section modified, or buy a replacement for that section with the bulge already fitted ($250).

Yeah I cut 3 sides of the bulge out of my existing bash plate and then bent the flap out in the shape of the bulge. The sides and back were then welded in with 3mm plate from scrap I had - the whole process cost me about 3hr of time.

Looks like a bought one

I really need to learn to weld, lol. It would have come in handy so many times.
