What suspension would you recommend?

From what you are saying I don't think you want the Bilsteins, they handle well but they are a firmer riding shock than what the ultimates will give you
On the internet you can be anything you want. It is strange that so many people choose to be stupid!

Thanks heaps for all the answers guys.
And the price isn't an issue, but because I have to save up for it, a rough idea would be good 8-)

I was sold a "comfort suspension" kit. Bilstein shocks and kings 101s on front and their house brand comfort rear springs. Its about as comfy as barbed wire jocks. When I complained - not interested. If you are after a better ride dont buy bilsteins, they are a sports shock, will handle better, ride like a pig.

I'm wanting an update from all the forum guys who had EFS front and rear springs added in the last couple of years. How have they gone over the years? Any issues?

I'm looking at getting EFS Elite struts 38-5638 and 40mm coils (up to 60kg) model TPR-104E.
I don't have any bull bar, no 2nd battery in engine (but in tub), diesel engine, and nothing else apart from stock standard front end. I am looking at getting a TJM T13 steel bull bar in the near future, maybe with brush bars and steps. Will the TPR-104E up to 60kg load coils work for this front end setup, without bull bar and then with bull bar?? Any opinions? I figure the TJM bar to be about 40kg, so still within the limits.

Any experiences and opinions appreciated.
Cheers

no setup will handle the difference in weight (from adding a bullbar) ie. it will either be too hard or too soft.

the best thing is buy for your expected setup, and live with the harsher ride until then

Based on other threads and a phone call to EFS this arvo, i will get the up to 60kg coils. Will be a little stiff until it settles and then bar to be added should improve the ride more

Come on all you experienced lux owners tell em whats real, there is no perfect set up, you guys that are setting up trucks need to be realistic in what your going to do with your truck, ie carrying heavy loads on a 4 week tour or driving to work and back please speak and listen to reputable suspension companys, in my experience i found Bilstien quiet ok but it took several diferent combinations to get it right, i replaced my rear leafs 3 times and even then finished up getting them custumed by a spring joint, at the end of the day pay the money dont skimp its the best investment youl make.

Thats exactly rite .

Spend the money on a good setup, it will make you eather hate your car or love your car on long drives.

Leaf springs are always going to me a gamble, as we all have different expectations outs of our luxs , so its hard to recomend the ideal pair for anyone in the market.
But going to an expirenced company and not a name brand may get you closer to your dream ride sooner than others.

well said guys, and so very true

I went to Ultimate Suspension and have been very impressed with their service. I've changed my vehicle setup 3 times now and they have been very helpful in tweaking the suspension to match. And they looked after me on price too

I will vouch for the OME stuff. 2nd time around and not having tried anything else can't compare but for my purpose it rocks. After getting the Runva 11XP fitted I had a feeling it had drooped a bit in the front so went in and got Steve at ARB to measure it last break. Just under 1 cm of sag so happy with that. No dual battery's though. Easter drive up the Hume to Newy towing the ski and a play around on Stockton the OME handles sweet as I reckon.

Yep - best change I made to the lux from Sydney Shock Absorbers.

If you use the standard front spring instead of the TRD spring but install the TRD shocks it raises the front by about 25mm

A lot of R&D went into these shocks for Aust Roads and if you read the reviews of the TRD Hilux most are blown away by how well the TRD Hilux handles on the road and also off road espically corrugations!

Oh and one last thing - what the TRD and Bilstein shocks have over the others is long life but most importantly they don't go "off" after an hour of heavy corrugated roads like other brands can.

I am also looking at the ironman foam cell setup. Full kit 2inch lift greasable shackles etc $1850 fitted. Any other guys out there had same kit fitted ? If so how much just for comparison.

yeah i have king springs on the front either HD or HHD i cant remember with efs medium load on the rear and bilstein shocks all round. killer flex and handles like a race car, but yes its a pretty stiff ride you feel all bumps in the road which can be annoying but having it setup that way works best for my driving style cause i feel in total control. probably cause my other car is a silvia on stiffened coilovers haha.
if i had to do it all over again id maybe consider a softer shock but to be honest when im off road i want it to be firmer cause then i dont have any issues of bouncing around and smashing my bash plate like i used to with my old shocks. however when driving on corregated roads it sucks >< i cant go anywhere near as fast as everyone else cause my dash may fall to pieces haha

So did you do a 50mm lift all round or just raise it back to the standard height of the trd prior to sag?
In the rear did they change the leaf suspension as well or just the shocks?

Are the trd springs a thicker gauge wire or longer
