What suspension would you recommend?

What suspension would you recommend?

Postby white.lux on Tue, 25 Aug 2009 11:23 +0000

Hello guys

After searching the forum for different suspension setups i think i have finally decided that I will get a full ironman kit and porbably put a 15mm spacer in the front for a touch more lift.
I have got a 2005 xtra cab, steel tray, turbo diesel, 30x10.5r 15 tyres and steel arb bar and 12000 pound winch, any will be installing a long range tank in the near future.

Could you guys tell me if this kit would sound ok for me and if the are many issues i should watch out for with ironman.

thanks Anthony

Only feedback I can add is that I deal with Opposite Lock Springwood for a lot of stuff and they don't sell their suspension or winches anymore. Warranty support has not been good and they never get any labour charges reimbursed to fix things for their customers. Read into that what you will. As always you get what you pay for...

havent heard anything bad about ironman meself.....I had their foam cell shocks in my last 03 hilux and love them, they performed well.

That being said, all the telstra troop carrier company service vehicles that work the out back areas, all have ironman suspension and are always fully loaded.....so must be good.

bang for your buck I think they are ok........depends on the kit that suits your budget and your needs.

A mate of mine went the full tough dog kit in his triton, two blown shocks and a front strut aswell as a crook shackle pin..........dont think I'd be going near them.

No, the EFS front struts are not height adjustable. To my knowledge not too many are other than Bilstien's that have had another circlip groove machined in them. I have had an EFS kit that gave me 3" of lift fitted for about 10 months now and couldn't be happier with it !

Mate that aint a Tough Dog kit!! All that has is tough dog shocks....

This link is for a full TD suspension kit:
http://www.toughdogdealer.com.au/hiluxcurrent.htm#sus

Also with the snake raceing gear ive been told its great gear but once there sold it too you they dont want to hear from you again, in other words SHIT after sales service!!

But sounds like your looking for the same information as i am, i am trying to decide between EFS and Tough Dog for my 2007 hilux....
