Has anyone installed a set of the new king springs tapered coils? I am looking at putting them on my 2012 diesel with bilstein struts. I am a bit concerned with sagging with the tapered springs but have had a gut full of the poor ride in this thing. It doesn't have a bull bar and is pretty much stock weight. Any thoughts? Will also replace the rear setup

Hey
So I have a 2010 dual cab. Completely stock suspension. Running 31's with steel bullbar and dual batts. The front is stupidly low, probably sagged a bit also with the pissy standard coils. I have very little clearance for rocks etc. I'd like to lift the front up 25-30mm due to the back already being 90mm higher. I'd prefer the cheapest option (new coils only?) retaining the stock struts if possible. I plan on going a full 2" lift later on down the track. Defiantly not keen on strut spacers. Anyone done similar or can offer me any help.

so guys how would say the kings HD springs go with stock struts? reason I ask is the previous owner took all the heavy duty stuff off & swapped it with his new 2013 hilux so shocks have done 10k since new. I have arb steel bar & lights winch eventually. front really needs more ground clearance & is definitely lower than the back.

Give Brendan at Ultimate Suspensions a call mate. He'll sort you out. I looked at the King HD springs but they wont give you any additional lift from standard on the standard struts. Ultimate's give you 20-25mm

Hey guys,

Great thread, I am going to try fit the king HHD's onto a bilstein strut. Because the springs I have after settling is about 560-565 to flare. Any predictions on how high it will sit set on the 3" groove? 580? :D

so I took tape measure to the front. centre of wheel to flare edge a mere 480mm... kinda explains why I can bottom it out on the bounce outta my driveway!

looking at springs I'd go kings heavy duty used kings before albeit for on their guts commodores & no problems. ideally though still like to use stock shocks for now & upgrade them when worn out

Hey guys,

I'm putting in King KTFR101HHD, I've put them side to side next to an old pair of Ironman springs and they're about 25mm longer. The Ironman springs after 2 years pretty much sagged to stock height, my question is would the Ironman springs spring back to original height once the weight has been taken off or should they have been compressed and the KTFR101HHD should be longer side to side?

Also having the rear springs too stiff e.g putting HD leafs on a hilux with just a tub, effect the sagging of the front coils? By putting extra weight onto the coils?

Thanks in advance for any help

JDog,
I don't think sagged springs will ever again be the same length as new ones coz they sagged!
HD leaves in the rear usually is for running with a constant weight in the tub/tray.
Not sure about affect on the front end...

Everyone,
My Dobinson GVM upgrade 50mm lift has sagged about an inch n a bit over the years (25,000k's) on the front(rear is fine), now looking at the Kings 101HHD springs on the dobbo shocks to set things right again.
Would this be a worthwhile combo with money being tight or just go to a complete Kings strut/spring combo when $$$ allow?

Cheers Bourby

Since my ironman springs have sagged to stock, shouldn't the Kings 101HHD be about 75mm longer? Since it's 25mm longer than the normal 2" HD springs?

Sorry if this is considered a hijack but whats the best and cheaper way of raising the front of the truck to match a bit to the back as I rarely put any load to it? Its the 3ltr 12 model.

New struts with longer coils.
You can also use strut spacers but they are highly frowned upon and illegal.
If i were you, don't rush into anything, spend some time reading up on suspension on this forum and that will give you an idea of what to do.

Yep, king springs would probably be the easiet option, they are good coils.

This is some good info. what's peoples thoughts on a suspension lift to achieve the same amout of wheel arch clearance front an rear. Looking for something with perfomance and comfort that lasts.

Cheers
