Front Coils - "Guide" Whats Available and What Spec's

Anyone had any experience with the Bilstein 5100's? $550 a pair delivered. Was going to go with a set of them but unfrotunatley the same website only does Toughdog or Ironman 2" springs and which i didnt really want. Was chasing EFS or something simular of a brand.

Pretty much have nothing but a steel genuine Toyota bullbar on the front and a dual batt soon.

Thanks all,

Eric

EDIT: Just doing some research and come across a setup that i was wondering if it would work. Bilstein 5100's for $550 a set and then throw some EFS 40mm coil springs around them for $240 a set. I already have OME rear shocks and extra shackle so not in need of the rears. $790 seems reasonable to lift the front 2" as my current stock shockies are stuffed!

Ive got a 3" bilstein and ome lift on my truck and the front has sagged big time and im guessing the ome coils are the problem as ive heard others say the same. All I have is an arb bullbar, no winch or dual batteries. Does anyone think a different coil such as king springs ktrf101hhd would get the front up a bit. It didnt sit level from the start but no its worse. I hate the look of it actually.

Hi

I recently got a 2 inch ome suspension lift on my 2006 sr5 hilux. The rear went up the full 50mm but the front only went up 30mm. I run an ecb alloy bullbar and dual batteries so they fitted the 2883 coils on the front. I wasn't happy with the lift on the front as I wanted it to be close to level height. I went back to arb and they said the only way to get the height would be to put the 2884 HD coils on. I got the 2884 coils fitted and the height is perfect it went the full 50mm. The ride on road is still fine but it's alot stiffer off road. Would there be a better option of coil that i could go with to get a better ride whilst holding the 50mm of lift I currently have. I have herd alot about fitting the King spring coils to the ome struts? would the king spring (ktfr-101h 385fh 17mm wire 660lb) keep the height whilst giveing a smoother ride? is there anyone that has fitted these coils? Any ideas and suggestions i am open to.

Thanks
Cheers.

I had ome 2883 coils on bilstien struts and they sagged badly. Today i got the ktfr101hhd coils put in and lets just say this, they are monsters. Im scared im going to snap a cv just driving into my driveway the angle is that extreme. I got a winch installed at the same time and I thought it would compensate for the height but it didnt. The truck finally looks the way I want it to but "warning" now the cvs and control arms look terrible. If it doesnt settle I fear I may have made a mistake.

Iv got the kings but I put the KTFR-101H not the HD. The H springs (not in catalogue) have the same height as the HD coil but the same spring rate as the standard raised. I have no bar and the front sits 580/575mm (RH/LH) from flare to center. Got them fitted to RAW Predator struts, rides nice. I have used Kings in all my vehicles

Hi Team,

I have just fitted Bilsteins (Caloffroad) front struts with kings KTFR 101 H on the second lowest setting.

This has given me a genuine 2" lift over standard (780 from rim to guard) and feels very comfy but slightly boaty, compared to the original squashed springs.

I think these springs may struggle in the long run to carry the constant load of the bullbar and dual battery system, so I will probably put the second battery in the tray.

Of course I always have the option of lifting the spring seat with the Billies if the springs do sag a bit, but would probably go the KTFR 101 HD next time.

Looks sweet but I haven't got photos up just yet, I could bear to take driveway photos.

Please continue to provide additional info if you have on the specifications of the coil springs.

Will make it sticky so that everyone can find this information easily. It will be helpful to those that have not lifted their front or those that want to change their front coils for whatever reason.

In regards to OME's 885 coils.. I rang Arb today to ask a few questions about them and he told me its actually a 16.5mm coil.
My guess is that they round it up to 17mm but when talking about a steel spring, 0.5mm can mean a world of difference.

Sagging is a bit of a problem in the Prados and the Hiluxes at the front end with IFS.
Sydney, the 101HDs will sit higher, mate. 18mm wire.

Hmmm.....interesting question. A bit of research is required, That's all.
I am working on a 2007 Hilux at the moment. Hole in number 1 and 3 pistons. Injector failure, or the lack of the feedback values being checked.
I am waiting for the money to come through, so I can do some measurements for you, if you want.
Wait, it does have Bilstein struts on it.
If you ever find out, I would be interested.
