Read the dangers of strut spacers thread. Is that only with higher ones? I only need 10-15 up to 25mm increase lift at the front. Can I get away with 10mm strut spacers and maybe space the bump stops to match without issue? I'm aware that the lift will be approximately double the spacer height. I'd paint the strut spacers black to avoid attention to them.

My suspension is totally stock. Running 265/70/16's (50mm taller than stock) for ground clearance. Not intending to do any major outback travelling (or towing).

Or is there a strut I can buy that will level out the front (needs to be 25 mm higher than stock only for legal reasons)

I'm on a tight budget. Can I get something ok for $500?... or risk the 10mm spacers.

Just get same heavier springs there not that expensive.

Which ones should I get? I've got an ARB steel bullbar and a warn winch.

ARB will have a spring to suit the weight or give a ring to same of the suspension shops on the west coast.

Give the guys at superior engineering a call
Tell them what you have fitted and they will recommend the correct spring

Steve, I was in a similar situation to you. After fitting the front bar & winch the front springs did drop a bit, but also my aftermarket tube UCA's were hitting the inner guard at full compression.



So I spent quite a bit of time and money trying different options. In the end I did fit some 10mm spacers on top of the springs, but measured the compression of the shockers without springs to make sure that they could not bottom out and damage the lower shock mounts.





I found some longer, but softer rubber bump stops that fixed the issue.



The 10mm spacers gave me just a bit over 25mm extra lift (which has since gone back down a bit) but in this case the 10mm spacers are doing the job without any chance of the shockers bottoming out.

What spring weight are you running?

Did you consider the option of putting another spacer on the strut to further preload the spring or go for a heavier spring?

The reason that I fitted the 10mm spacers was that my UCA's were hitting the inner guard, so I needed to space the suspension away from the guard slightly, just enough to stop it hitting. Also the longer bumpstops helped. I wasn't necessarily looking for more lift and I went with a reasonably soft coil for comfort and ease of travel, while relying on foam shockers to control them. I did try another spacer ring under the coil mounting of the shockers, but it made the front suspension noticeably firmer, which I wasn't too keen on and the coils were close to binding on full compression.

Basically with the extra weight of the steel bar and winch ( heavy as) equates to a one inch lift kit springs. This should bring it down to stock height. So a a 2 inch lift in the springs will leave you with a one inch lift above stock height. Don't forget if the springs are old, you may end with more height fitted than you have now. Due to sagging
