Is my front strut meant to look like this??

My 2011 SR5 dual cab has had a malfunction. I hit a pothole last night coming home from work. It’s done 330000km on the original suspension, so I guess it’s to be exactly expected.
What lift kit would suit me? I do around 50000km a year on a mix of crap dirt roads and highway driving. It’s also my farm Ute so carries a load occasionally.

Strut spaces or a hard landing?
I might be wrong.

"Pothole" ...

That's a stack of km on one set of suspension
Any aftermarket kit is going to work much better than 300K+ struts - esp that one

Have a look at 2" kits. What ever is local Iron man, Old Man Emu, etc.
Best to do the rear suspension while at it. EFS do a good 300kg leaf pack that's good unlaiden and loaded up.

No strut spacers, just completely stock.
Yeah it is a heap of K’s however I just decided to run it standard till something gave up the ghost. Looks like the front left one gave up first.
I will do the leaves on the rear as well. It’s always been too low anyway, not that I do any serious off roading, but it does get driven fast on gravel and farm work tests all cars out.
Still can’t believe it bent the bottom of it into a right angle like that! It wasn’t even that hard of a hit!

I removed my stock 2011 suspension at less than 50,000km. It was junk to start with and r00ted by 50,000km. Had sagged 35mm in the front. Fitted Ultimate hard on the front and soft on the rear. Full Ultimate foam cell shocks, greasable shackles. Turned it from a car that was a pig on dirt roads and had to slow down for speed bumps into a totally different car. Speed bumps are now non existent and dirt roads are a breeze. Apart from the Engel fridge it is the best mod I made. The factory suspension is second rate rubbish, you won’t believe the difference. I’d recommend upgrading the front rotors too at the same time, with a change to 17” rims and 265/65/17 tyres. The 50mm lift plus the 20mm lift from the tyres works well. Either use the rotors and calipers from a factory 17” wheel car or the bigger ones from a 120 series ‘cruiser or TRD Hilux, both are bolt on and fit under 17x7.5 Hilux or 120 Grande rims or aftermarket Speedy copies in 17x7.5 30P. You can buy the 120 series calipers new pretty cheap, and rotors are cheap too or buy Aussie made PBR T2 or T3.

Yep - good feedback on dobinsons. You you might not need their remote Reservoir kits though.
Any brand can have occasional premature failures. As long as you can get local support/replacement should there be a fault, any of the main brand name kits will be a huge improvement on what you have been used to.

HK it has the 17” wheels and bigger brakes as standard. It’s late 2011 with the bigger scoop on the bonnet.

Ah, 2012 model. I also forgot the diesel 2011 had the 17” rims too, V6 stayed with 15” until the 2012 model update late in 2011.

Ive got Outback Armour suspension in my Hilux. Work very well. Has given it a good lift.... approx 2 1/2". Expedition fronts to handle extra weight of the steel bullbars, and Trail rears as I don't always carry a load in the rear.
Front struts come fully assembled so no fluffing about trying to compress springs etc. Simple unbolt old and fit new.
Rear pins are all greasable as well which is really handy
