2in Lift Suspension Height

2in Lift Suspension Height

Postby Andrew.Fenwick on Sat, 23 Nov 2019 8:34 +0000

Hey Guys,

I had new suspension (Westcost Suspension in Perth did the job) fitted to my ute yesterday. Its much nicer to drive but when the gear was fitted the rear has been lifted a lot (before it was 935mm from ground to bottom of wheel arch. Today its 1030 maybe a little more).

When I got the quote they said it was only lift about 60mm and settle to 50mm which would be fine. We tow a camper and I actually don't even know if the jockey wheel will be tall enough to fit it on the ute! (will find out today when I pull the camper out to prep for Christmas break)

Also it looks a little funny with its nose pointing down at the road.

So my question is, how is the height of the rear of a 2012 SR5 hilux controlled? I think I will have to take it back and ask them to lower it because its twice the height I really wanted!

Thanks very much,
Andrew

What is the hub to guard measurement?

Ground to guard isn't useful because different wheel size, tyre size, tyre pressure can all change it (so can't compare directly to other setups).

Most off the shelf kits will maintain a higher rear because it levels under load, which is safer than having the rear lower than the front.

Thanks for your reply mate.

So from middle of the axel to the bottom of the wheel arch it’s 635mm.

Over the weekend I loaded her up with the fuel drums (200ltr) our camping gear and put the camper on and she actually sits really well when loaded.

Didn’t get to take her for a spin loaded but it looked pretty decent with the lift and 32in tyres.

Need to book it in for a wheel alignment etc later this week.

Mine sits at about 610, and it's been on there over six years (previous owner installed it), so that measurement is good for a 2" lift.
