New hilux suspension in an 08?

New hilux suspension in an 08?

Postby mchieff on Sat, 01 Jun 2019 6:12 +0000

Hi guys, had a quick look around but seem to only get answers for the new or the old. 2nd hand there's new hilux suspension going for next to nothing, and mine is getting a bit tired. Question is: is there anything interchangeable with my 2008? In particular a 2017 TRD suspension on my V6 SR5 Dual cab.
Cheers

They are different. I can't remember exactly how much difference there is but they are different in lenghts front and rear. I did post on another thread all the numbers, maybe in the bp51 thread? They are only goin cheap cos aren't even worth anything for scrap!

These are the measurements for the bp51 shocks and struts pre and post 2015. I'd say the factory stuff would differ again but they all have different part numbers etc. Up to you weather you wanna try and fit them or not, could be wasting your money. Image

Very useful info Luke
That open length of 550mm - is that measuring from the top of the hat to the centre of the lower mounting bolt eye?

They were all specs from the book. Considering bp51s have a eye at each end on the lux I'd say that measurement would be eye center to center.

Not sure why you’d want factory stuff if the original stuff on my 2011 SR5 is anything to go by. I replaced all mine within 20,000km with Ultimate and it was like a new car. The original stuff is junk.

$50 for all of it with under 5ks on it is a persuasive thing

If you are near Lake Macquarie you can have my original stuff of my 2011 for $50. But you are better off spending $250 for used aftermarket off a wreck.

Thanks mate. Seeing the top hat appears to be 10-15mm higher than the top eye , 560- 565mm sounds quite modest compared to other aftermarket gear but at least it will be very safe at full droop
