Gday Guys,
Had a search, both forums and around and cant seem to get what I am looking for.

I have just finished (or so I thought) my Hilux build and took her down to the Yorke Penisula for a quick holiday over chrissy. Everything on the rig ran pretty well, except for this excessive swaying when on the highway. If you are cruising at anything above 80kms and do a slight turn the truck dives at the front and then body rolls quite hard. Enough to worry me and I am not usually too concerned with such characteristics. I should state that the touring setup on the back weighs a shitload and I have 2 spares mounted to the rear of the canopy. I also have a RTT mounted & an awning.

My question is how can I reduce the body roll?
A silly question but, do Single cabs come with a sway bar standard? I bought the ute used and there is no sway bar on the rear?
Maybe the rear springs arent enough and should be beefed up more?

2008 single cab Hilux:
- Dobinsons 2.5 inch suspension lift, Monotube shocks & 450kg constant load in rear
- Micky Thompsons BAJA MTZ - LT265/75R16

Any help would be well & truly appreciated.

All models come with a standard front sway bar, it's only a small one and can be upgraded.
None of them have a rear swaybar, however you can get an aftermarket rear swaybar, pretty simple to fit, will reduce your flex slightly.

Sounds scary Alex. She shouldn't be twitching like that.

Throw her over the weigh bridge fully loaded. Roll forward and weigh the rear axle too. Check you are under GVM...
If under GVM check all steering linkages and bushes. Most likely over weight as dave g indicates.

If you are over the GVM reduce the weight. Need to allow enough for passengers in the calculation. If you can't reduce the weight sell it and buy a bigger ute! Being over GVW is not only unsafe it can and will void any insurance. I saw the weight of my 2011 yesterday at the tip. 2360kg with me in it. That is a 2011 V6 auto, Supercharger/intercooler with steel front bar, dyeema winch, TRD size front rotors, lightweight canopy, 2nd battery, 38L Engel fridge, towbar, Recaro Ergomed driver's seat, UHF radio and a very small amount of stuff in the back (like 5kg of tools). Plus a full size spare and light truck 265/65/17 tyres. My GVW is 2810kg meaning I have only 450kg left, if I stick in a passenger plus a heap of camping gear I'd easily be over GVM especially with anything on the towball, a small trailer can easily add 120kg to the vehicle's weight.

Buy a stiffer one like the one I linked to, unbolt the old one, bolt in the new, doesn't take long to do, just make sure the new bushes are greased (they usually come with a sachet of lithium grease) otherwise it will squeak like crazy.
