Effect of 45kg front bumper

Effect of 45kg front bumper

Postby xychix on Wed, 21 Mar 2018 1:57 +0000

I'm about to order a 45 KG heavy (friggin expensive) Rhino evolution bumper for my 2015 Hilux Vigo.

Are there more people that are running a ~45kg bumper on the front and still roll with stock suspension.
- Do you notice this weight while driving?
- Is the front sitting noticeably lower after installation?

45kg is nothing mate compared to the 80plus kgs of an ARB bar on the N70s. Add a winch to that lol

This is why people upgrade the front springs. You get used to it.
I might be wrong.

So 45kg's should be possible without dragging my nose on the tarmac OR replacing these front springs (I have no room for a light due to Dutch Parking garages.)

Your nose may drop around a cm at the wheel arches.

Over time the front will drop.
Doesn’t matter what brand it will drop over time.

As above. My 2011 sagged over 25mm due to a steel front bar around that weight.

That's only slightly heavier than an Xrox tube bar, and don't forget you're removing about 20kg of factory bumper and supports in order to fit it, so you won't notice much difference unless you fit a winch.

I have a 06 V6 & I have just fitted a MCC alloy front bar. The bar wheighs next to nothing but the winch surport underneith wheighs a bit. Properly added 45kg to the front end, by the time you strip out all the factory stuff.
Haven't noticed any drop in the front end. If any thing, it feels higher. That just mite be cause I can see the top of the bar over the bonnet now.
I'll measure it up & post my ride height. I have stock front end suspension.

well, that's exactly what is going to happen next ;) . A Runva 9500 is waiting for the Lux (hoping it will fit in the Rhino bar...)

from the center of the wheel to the lowest point in the front fender I had 47,5 centimeters before adding a runva 9500 winch and 47 cm afterwards.

I'm running stock suspension. Unfortunately never measured the car with the stock bumper on....

Are there any adjustment options on the front setup where I can safely regain ~1.5 cm's ?

You could try coil spacers. Some people were recently talking about them here on the forum.

Best to avoid strut spacers.

I put a bullbar and winch on 10year old tired stock suspension. Had about 20mm travel left, which was ok(ish) for a while.
Wanted to add all my accessories first, then weigh the rig to get the suspension just right.

That fronts about the same as mine but I’m about an extra 50mm in the rear. I was actually curious as to how much difference a stock luxy has from f-r so I can try to get my geometry right. I do have airbags in the rear but the tubs empty so they’re sitting at about 6psi
