Dobinsons MRR vs OME BP-51

Dobinsons MRR vs OME BP-51

Postby Chiv on Mon, 08 May 2017 5:39 +0000

I'm looking to upgrade my suspension to a remote reservior coilover

At the moment I am looking at the Dobinsons MRR and the OME BP-51, using it for on and off-road mostly everyday but a few long trips planned. Who's running these? What are they like?
Budget 3-5k

Thanks

Comparing chalk and cheese there. Dobbos won't cost you 3K. I have the dobbo mrrs. Do a Google Search on failures for them. The bushes that they come with are crap, my front strut bushes didn't last 12 months on road. Replaced with superpro. But I do like them. Have a look into fox shocks instead, wish I'd gone with them.

Fox 2.0 at the lower end of your budget.
At the upper end you could probably squeeze in a set of Kings with new leaf pack also.

If you start going above 50-60mm then enter the territory where there are significant benefits in diff drops, UCAs etc. which add more cost. BP51s are not more than 40/45mm from what I understand, which is a good choice of lift for 90% of people's usage.

Thanks for the insight
The fox kit might be the way to go after reading up a bit more on the dobinsons build quality and the many failures. The bp-51 and kings setup might be a bit overkill at the moment for what I need. The fox looks good and is a the company has a great rep.

The downside with Fox in Australia is that, from my experience, their local distributor is very difficult to contact which is a concern. King Shocks Australia are in Briabane and extremely helpful and available.

If you go the Fox 2.0s a guy on eBay called PartsmanDan or similar seemed to have been around a while with satisfied customers. He imports from the US himself and his pricing was significantly better than other fox retailers in Aus.
