What they quoting you for install
A mate got his priced up and the install price way over the top even for an arb shop,
110p/h is what they were charging him at how many hours I don't remember

Any store should have the same fitting time allowance, if you have damaged, rusty or crazy dirty stuff that takes longer to remove then you may get charged a little longer. I can do a hole set front and rear including leafs in under 4 hours, thats including pre fittment test drive, pre measuring and test/ adjust after fittment.

wat do poeple think of the product but the whole setup on and off road

I got my 2011 fitted with BP51, rides really good and handles great coming from stock suspension, only disappointment is very clunky in the front end now, didn't have any clunking prior to upgrade. I've driven cars for work and that clunking noise is very similar to what you would hear when a shock or strut mount is stuffed, a clunking sound over bumps.
Have taken it back for its 500km check up and mentioned the issue but was told it wasn't the shocks, any ideas as to what could be causing it, ute only has 74 000km on it and hasn't had a hard life, has only started after new suspension was installed.

Brett - same issue with mine, clunking constantly at low speed. 2014 Hilux, happy with everything else just found that it's the noisiest suspension I've ever had.

You sound like your having the same issue as me. it handles great and super comfy just a little disappointing if its so noisy for the price.

Rang ARB/ OME Melb today and was advised that the preload on the front assembly is set with the assumption of a bullbar and winch. Tech advised me to take the Hilux back and have the ARB fitter contact Melb tech team to remove front suspension and change the setup before re-installing to allow for the absence of b/bar and winch setup

Correct! If the fittee had of read the instructions it tells you that. There r three general settings, one for bar and winch, one for bar only and one for stock ute. Ya do need the correct tools to do so tho.

Bit of a PITA - ARB fitted it in the first place, would have thought my local store Should have known that.

same problem and I have ARB winch bar , tjm winch and 2 batteries under bonnet will try arb as well (very annoying clunk around town

Considering a set of BP51s for my 2016 SR5. The adjustable compression would suit my loads varying from nothing (day to day) to loaded up for camping/trips. Although the 2016 seems a bit more compliant than my 2013 work Hilux, the reported extra compliance for BP51 with no load will always be appreciated in a ute ...

The only thing concerning me is the suggestion that they are actually a shorter travel than the 2016 stock shocks. Can anyone confirm this ? I don't need the hassle of a long travel setup in the Hilux but losing travel would be a bit of a downer especially when Toyota has gone to the trouble of increasing rear travel for 2016.

2nd question - even though there is only one strut part no. I have got mixed messages from ARB guy on whether the spring can be simply adjusted by preload if I add a front bar later on when something more appealing comes out. I figure it should just be a matter of struts off, compress spring and adjust preload ring ?? One ARB guy suggested 'don't get the BP51s now if you are getting a bar in a year cause the whole strut needs to be sent away to be adjusted'. Seems odd to me but can someone clarify ?

That dude obviously doesn't have the tools to do his job properly! Yes it's stut out and adjust the ring, very easy! I can find out any difference in lenght but I'm sure it would be minimal.

That'd be great, thanks. After info specifically for the 2015+ which I am lead to believe has a slightly longer rear shock than previous model.

Rito here it is. Bp51 front up to 15: open 550.5 closed 440. 15 on: open 544.5 closed 439.5. Bp51 rear up to 15: open 593 closed 373. 15 on: open 645 closed 400. I have the plain nitro charger specs too if needed.

That's awesome, thanks for doing that so quickly. Did you measure or was that factory specs ?

Now I've just got to find some specs for the factory shocks. A rough measurement of full open just requires a jack but closed is a bit tougher.
