arb say that to scare the customer into buying only their product.

im surprised that they havent realised by now that theres a large market out there for more than 30mm front lifts and theres no adverse effects with it.

hypocrits really...i remember at a 4x4 show i went to couple years ago they had a new hilux there on display that was lifted close to 3" on the front with 285's.

asked them bout the lift and they said it was a one off they couldnt give any details of it and it wasnt for sale through arb.....loosers!

Long time since any1 opened this thread!!

I've read thru from page 1 about installing spacers to a lux that already
Has a 2" tough dog lift on it as I do!! Reason being..... Lifting the front up
To suit the back. Back sits up around 40mm compared to front so can I install
10mm or 25mm spacers to level her out?? Feedback from you guys who have
done it would be appreciated!!

Cheers Didz

Legally you can't level out the vehicle and struts spacers have to be engineered. Besides that they are dangerous and not recommended under any circumstances. Have a read of the rest of the thread. Some great info and a few horror stories as well.

How would these baby's go for my stock 2011 dual cab fellas. Looking at raising it about 2" would I have to get a diff drop to keep the risk of busting cvs down to a minimum or what do you guys think. Cheers

I have a 2008 dual cab with 2" ironman lift kit with dobinsons coils, I get that spacers are a bad idea but what I want to know is exactly what do I have to do to get the front a bit higher so I can fit 265/75r16 tyres on it and so it doesn't look terrible because of the sag in the front?

You will fit those tyres on a 2 inch lift, I do. If need be, get some king ktfr101hd coils put on or the hdd. Depends what weight you have on your vehicle.

Hi guys,

Not sure if this is the right thread to post in but:

What is the difference between strut top spacers that sit on top of the top hat

and

Spring spacers that sit between the spring and the top hat??
Is a spring spacer legal? and does a 10mm spring spacer give about the same amount of lift as a 25mm strut top spacer??

Thank for any info guys.

Two completely different things! Strut spacers move the whole assembly down giving you hight but rendering your bump stops useless! Your shock will bottom out before the bump stop does. Where as spring spacers essentially put more preload on the spring to help hold things up but still staying within the parameters of the shock. And no, a 10mm spring spacer will maybe give you 10mm lift where as 25mm strut spacers will give you 30-40mm lift. Hope that helps.

Thanks for that.
So the spring spacer is really only used if the front suspension has sagged and you want to bring it backup and put load on the spring.

If you extend the bump stops by as much as the strut top spacer will this stop the strut from bottoming out and breaking/failing.

Now that just shows the quality of Original Toyota gear.
That Strut by rights should have imploded.

Tell me about it I consider myself lucky! Learned the hard way! As for that tyre size, I was running those for ages with only 2inch body lift and looked fine. Mite be better to look into stiffer springs if ya have the front fully kitted.

Dear all,
I used to have some two - three years ago a Nissan Navara D40. A very fast ute. And lifted with strut spacers brought from US. And rode it quite fast off-road. We even won a small rally raid local - some 200-250 kms, I do not know exactly. And never had a problem. Now sold to someone doing farming serious and loading it and still perfect after more than 3-4 years of hard usage. And paid something like 200 usd. I would say rather good value for the money and trouble free. Just my experience.

Maybe on a Navara, but definitely not on a Hilux.
