Im getting the same ride height as rodw and a few others with OME, but i have changed the front springs to King springs 101HD's also with 10mm of spring spacers in there as well. I have all the goodies up front to weigh her down and im sitting bang on 760mm. Its been this way for ages so its sagged all its going to already. Just another option.

Cheers, Josh

is this a measurement for centre of rim , so size of wheels doesn't matter.

Fellas, here is a pic of my ute with a 2" ARB lift parked beside a mates bog stock standard ute. Both vehicles have the same tray, but I'm running Prado 17's and the mate still has the Pizza Cutters

Image

Pics arn't real flash, but the height difference stands out

Image

I have the heavier duty spring pack installed as I would normally carry half a tonne or more of Tradies tools around in the back. I'm empty in this shot and the arse end is .....er....interesting in the wet !

Gday all
this seemed the logical thread to post in...

im a newbie to hilux's and 4x4ing in general
diving a 2012 SR5 Auto DC TD so u know

finally got my new OME 2" full kit fitted....all in all im very happy with the ride an the hight...BUT...seem to be getting a slight vibration on initial take off almost like a drive shaft is out of balance...goes away almost immediately but is a concern.... is this normal with lifting? still have to take it back to ARB for a 500km check and tighten up... thought id ask here first

Thx

get some 1 degree caster wedges installed, this will fix it. or you could put a 20-30mm spacer on your centre bearing.

I have found this thread for you... have a gander in there.....I no longer have the problem since I have removed the EFS springs (they were sitting the ass up to high) and have put in some reset stocks and all is good.

Cheers Steveyb

That's cleared a few things up, I got 400kg springs in the back and it's sitting 95mm higher than stock when empty, some wedges will help from the sounds of it... Thought ARB might have warned me bout that one :?
Got this setup for an up coming trip with the camper trailer and a full load in the back, should be apples for that.

95mm high is pretty much 4'' inch lift! no wonder theres vibration! Even a 2'' wedge might not be enough if its sitting at that height all the time, do u plan on having a constant load of 400kg in there all the time as thats what your springs are designed for - a 400kg constant load and 50mm lift. Without any weight in in the ride would have to be fairly harsh i would imagine?

Is all your gear going into the camper trailer or the back on the ute?

hey Hellbound,

Firstly this is what has been fitted:
all OME
885 coil prado 4/03 front
sports strut front p/n 90002
sports shock rear p/n 60007
CS045R leafs
bush kit
greasable shackles

I've done the suspension upgrade mainly in prep for a trip to the Kimberley this May-June, the tub will be chocker's with Fridge, some spares, tools, water, ect, at this stage im useing a hard lid so not all that much room... will also be towing a camper trailer roughly 150kg on the ball, a long range tank will also be installed before the trip.

Camper trailer and Bike/Quad trailer get used quite a bit.

Also have a list of future mods, more than likley after my trip (running out of pay days)inc:
Canopy
Draws, fridge slide
Roof racks
awning(s)
possibly Rear wheel (Jerry can) carriers

might take a year or so to get fully decked out, thought suspension was a major before the trip up north....

Have i gone over the top?

Just added some photos to My Shed, last 4 or 5 show the lift (would post em here but havnt sus that out yet) :D

Mabye something softer with a set of airbags would have done the job.

People have bent their chassis before by towing and using airbags.... but I think that came down to excessive towball weight and/or overweight in general.

Has any one fitted the EFS 2" lift with fire stone air bags.

I'm looking at getting them but want to see what people think of them and if anyone has had any problems with them ?

I would be going back to ARB and getting them to replace with some comfort leaf springs. Not sure about the shocks they would have used?
400kg is a lot of dead weight to be carrying around. More fuel, less pick up etc

when i ordered the suspension this is what i told the rep:

" i want to set the lux up for a trip to the Kimberly, i will be:-- towing a camper trailer (bout 150kg on the ball),---fitting a long range tank 140L---and have the usual in the tub 60L fridge--40L water---some tools and cloths/things i need for 3 to 4 weeks"
I also said " in the future i will be fitting a winch--conopy--draw system--roof rack with awning and possibly a rear wheel carrier".
He then reccomended what has been fitted (check previous posts). and told me i would get a hieght gain of 30-40mm in the front, 60-70mm in the rear. ( i got nearly 90 all round)

The lux is at ARB as we speak, was waiting in shop for a hr before the mech came out with sales rep..

Mech said "its not even leagal, 35mm over hight" i Told mech those springs were fitted here 2 weeks ago from the recomendation of the rep, he shook his head lol

So now they are taking a couple of leafs out to soften it up and lower it a bit.. and i can put them back in as i need them "they said".

Does this sound ok? or are they doing a dodgy?

Sounds like they are probably taking the easiest option for them. Should be ok but you kind of feel your not getting what you paid I guess.
For future reference you should always talk to the GURU of suspension Brendan @ Ultimate ;)
