Bilsteins 5100 with KINGS 101HD or 101HHD?

I went with Ridepro heavy duty springs and CalOffroad long travel struts, but they are set on the smallest groove at 2"

Ta Gawry,

I ended up going the Caloffroad long travel struts paired with the Kings KTFR 101 H on the 2" setting on the front,,,,,,,,,,,,, and the Caloffroad shocks with the Kings Toy 092 zz 300 kg on the rear to carry my Al canopy and tools n stuff.

Haven't tested off road just yet but drives nice on road and looks and feels much better....less body roll and the ute actually rides so much smoooooother.

Cal delivered the struts and shocks to me for $900 and Kings on the Gold Coast supplied the front and rear springs and fitted everything for a neat $1000........ best value 2" lift Bilstein/Kings.

I will post some pics of her in action once it stops raining on the
Goldie.

Hey Guys I finally got my 5100 front Billies. Right now I am running the front shocks with OME 885 Prado Springs which are 5mm higher than the ones for our Hiluxes with OME part no, OME884. The OME885 Prado springs have same wire diameter but 5mm taller. Eventually they will Sag once the bar and winch is in the front.

Since i have not purchased my ARB Sahara Bar, and Winch, the OME I think will be fine for know...

I think I will definetly go KINGS HHD101 and keep the Bilsteins in the lowest position....

My only concern is that I dont wont to loose downtravel, I need the truck to have droop, if the HHD101 are going to jack the car way up, I hope is not going to be that case. I guess is something of Trial and error....

Any thoughts...??

Also option is there for the 887 with the 400mm free height............

Really keen to hear from anyone with the king hdd in ome strut combo

Griffo. I think a HHD will top the strut out to be honest. You could consider using a HD spring with a few a 5mm packers underneath? Also you also should specify your rim size when you give a measurement as well. 780mm sounds bloody high on a 15" rim?

Ah forgot about rims. I'm running 17 prados dual batt winch bullbar. Arb put 885 in yesterday assuring my I'd get back to 780. I don't want to put yet another set of springs in and only sit at 765

Good luck mate. If it fails again Id be going the HD spring with pack rings it gives you some fine tuning. Be sure to post results.

Sorry forgot in my last post..... The springs that went in yesterday only sat the front at 760.... That's where the 884's were sagged to. To rub salt into the wounds they didnt bolt the top of the struts and was banging its head off. Drove back there had a dummy spit and they finished the job. I wont mention the workshop as they are replacing springs with my brand of choice inc fitting, paying fuel for me to get there(500km return) and a box of beer to wash it down. Thanks for your replies and pm skog. Think ill try my luck with the king hdd

Mark it should be finally putting the hdds in the next few weeks, with Ultimates struts.Kyle spoke to Brendon and they will set it up to my requirements.I could not pass up their quality struts,I don't think anyone else makes a 1 inch base stem. The trip to Newvember will be a good test on and off road. :D

I just ordered a full set of Bilstein 5100's from the US . They were listed to suit a Tacoma and Ive since read that the rears have a vertical pin instead of the Hilux horizontal eyelets at each end. I thought about a adaptor to screw into the end to change it to an eyelet but I think I'll have to chalk this up to experience and buy a set of yellow Bilsteins locally.
I am having King coils 101HD fitted to the fronts atm , the shocks have 4 grooves with the instructions listing lowest being "normal ride height" up to "2.5" average lift" for the top groove. New top hats are also being fitted . Once I work out which Bilstein rear shocks I need I'll post up the combo and later on after a few km's a report.

Cheers

Hi guys
Reading this thread I seem have the same susspension set up at the front with billies and hd king springs. Its a 2012 dualcab d4d. I was wondering I you guys have had the same issues as me?
About a month about a month ago I was driving up a steep hill brass walls trails at Abercrombie it was smooth and all of a sudden the top of my driver side cv popped out of the diff housing.
Went to Toyota and they said not covered because suspension mod but fixed it. Last weekend it happened again in reverse gear. Both times I was driving in low range.
Has this happened to anyone else? What is the best remidy? Toyota cvs are expensive.

Ummm na....a 2inch lift would not cause that that...after all the add on TV says unbreakable....a CV falling out...sounds like a warranty claim they will fight you over

So I had my ome struts fitted with kings HHD springs today..........

From bottom of rim to guard its 812 passenger 815 driver that's with 150 prado 17inch rims. Time for diff drop cvs are on hell of an angle. Front is now level with rear running ome 400kg constant leafs.

Fwiw despite my avg fuel economy not being accurate due to chip, my avg was 10.7 going down and 9.3 coming back. Derby to Broome and back 250km each way 105kmh both trips.

Better economy because it's now level????
Whatever it is I'm not complaining

Wow... Equating that backwards mine sat at 745 and 755 respectively on 15'' rims. Which worked out at about 30mm of lift over standard. Yours is about 65mm above standard? How much droop do you have left? What you may also find is the OME struts might not be able to properly rebound dampen that spring as well.

I can't quote standard height with these rims, when I bought the car it had stock struts with spacers but if the 885's I had were 40mm higher at 780 then it's now 75mm.

Not expecting too much down travel now although after chatting to matt from monster rides some extended ball joints will give some more droop. I'll grab some in a week or two when I get diff drop and bash plate.

My missus is going to kill me but that's another story
