Rocket,

I get mine done over at Blair's Tryes, Peakhurst. They do heaps of my mates Drift cars, and we all swear by them. Oh they're reasonably priced too.... :)

Cheers, I'll give them a go. I have been using Tubys Tyres at Kirrawee, when the lift and aftermarket UCA's went in they kinda didn't instil me with confidence after that. Although I've not paid for about my last 6 flat tyres (bead leaks) so they can't be too bad a bunch of guys. ;)

Yeah cool, I stopped going there about ten years ago when they started charging way to much for basically walking thru the garage door! :D

The guy at Blair's brought me into the shop and talked me thru what he was doing and everything...I'm installing the upper ball joints soon, so I'll be heading back myself.

Do you mean the camber adjustment? Just had a look under my 2012 sr5 and am not seeing any bolt that will allow the wheel to move forward. The only thing I can see that will move the wheel forward would be swapping the left and right lower ball joints over, as they are offset.

X2 I'm in middle of changing cv and have unbolted the steering knuckle from the lower control arm, I cannot see how the wheel can be moved forward or back

Camber and Castor are both adjustment by the front and rear lower control mount adjustment tabs. It is to my understanding why its best to have the vehicle on a proper alignment machine when doing so so you can see how any adjustments to either camber, castor and with the tie rod ends, toe, affect one another.

It is possible to move the lower control arm forward with these adjustment bolts on the lower control arm ONLY if you either have a castor kit fitted or aftermarket upper control arms with built in extra castor to keep things within spec.

Camber and Castor Adjustment

1. Loosen the camber adjusting cam nut and camber adjusting cam bolt.
2. Turn the No. 1 camber adjusting cam and No. 2 camber adjusting cam in both directions, and adjusting the camber and caster to the center value.
3. The camber and caster should be as close as possible to the center value.

Hey Max do you think an aftermarket caster kit would actually work as a viable option for chopping the mount?? If you could keep things within spec of course

I ran 285/75x16 silverstons muddies which are a full 33x12 with factory UCA's and a good alignment and they cleared the bodymount...only just but they still cleared.

I didnt need a castor kit.

I personally havent had any experience with them so I cannot comment either way but if they help you achieve what your afgter then go for it. I still beleive a good alignment done by someone with experience in fourbies and IFS hiluxs will go along way to solving most of the problems out there.

Mine dont hit either........ while on road. Offroad is a different story. If a kit wont move the wheel far enough forward ill just have to get the grinder out  on that note you gotta trim the guards as well as the mount hey?

Thinking of changing from my regular shop in cessnock. They are excellent with dealing tyres and fitting (last set of 4 were done in 10mins  didnt even finish my cuppa) but every wheel alignment pulls to the left and wears the inside of the tires.

Have had a few 4x4 nuts rave about allcare car servies in kurri kurri for wheel alignments, anybody had any experiences? I get all my mechanical work done there and very profesional results, tho would a tyre dealer ship have more experience doing alignments over mechanic?

I've just heard all tyre wheel alignments are a hit or a miss. And I've been told not to go to tyre joints. Well advised against it.
Yeah that's be good Arron. Are you gana ask for the before and after data?

My local Tyre Power shop owner doesn't even do his own wheel alignments on his 4x4. He tells me that they just don't have the gear to do a proper job. He recommends and takes his Land Cruiser and Range Rover to

Spencer's Truck Wheel Alignments
Wheel Alignment & Balancing - Cardiff, NSW
Cnr Pendlebury Rd & Alhambra Ave, Cardiff NSW 2285, Australia
Phone number(02) 4954 7788

I had mine done there after fitting the ST Maxx, bar and OME suspension. I have only done 3000km thus far so can't really comment on tyre wear but there is no pulling to the left or right at all.

Don't do as I did and wait for the alignment to be done as it took them two hours. They really get like to get it as close to perfect as adjustment will allow.

However it's not a cheap exercise but I have been assured well worth it. From my invoice, $40 for the diagnosis, $30 for the camber adjustment x 2, $30 for the caster adjustment x 2 and $10 for the Toe adjustment plus GST. Total $187 but I have been assured it will be less next time as it was way out due to all the gear I had just added.

They also advised to get them to check it after 10-15k but should be good for 40,000km. If that's the case then well worth it.

has anyone ran out of camber adjustment?
iv only just put in billies with 2" kings and after an alignment its still soo positive (further out at the top)

went back to the tyre shop that did it and he told me that its the most he could get out of it
he also mentioned that hes lifted heaps of hilux's (using ironman) and has never had any trouble before

i then proceded to ask him what the solution was to fix my camber and he wanked on for a while saying that i have to remember that camber and castor adjustments only have enough for standard height vehicles,
then said i should look into, in his words 'dropping my chassis', i think he meant like a calmini style lift?
and i obviously said no

so, clearly this tyre shop isnt gonna help me,

anyone else had camber issues?
solutions?
good wheel aligner in south-west WA?

cheers
