So why buy a hilux to use off road, when clearly you need to spend more money v's the equivalent to make them comparable.
Value for money was my whole point.

50mm suspension lift does little (well maybe if your driving dirt forest roads) for the cost.
Hilux are shit house for off road use. ;)

So what ya saying is you regret spending $5k on ya suspension? Got to admit the lux does drive a lot nicer than and old pootrol :) :)
Luv my lux drives greaat on dirt roads and school runs and about $30k cheaper than the cheapest late model live axle job......personally I'd love a dual cab V8 Cruiser but the misso just spent that $30k on a new boat :D :D :D

Hey guys, I went to ARB this arvo to get a base price for a suspension upgrade, he told me it needs a load proportioning valve upgrade (relocation kit) but I have a vsc equipped hilux, didn't Toyota do away with this for the upgraded brakes and vsc systems?

I doubt it but not sure the function of this is when you load the tub/tray up it naturally drops then this valve moves slightly with makes the rear brakes brake more.
If you look at the back of your rear diff you should see a round eye bolted to it with a long shaft with a treaded end.
I got my longer one from Superior Engineering for about $45 delivered its easy to install.

yeah, I'd be going elsewhere. VSC eqipped Hilux's dont have LPV's

Its vsc equipped utes that don't have a lpv. I have abs and had to use some threaded rod to make an extension for my lpv so the rear brakes worked.

You can kind of see what I mean in the pic of the ride height and the spacers that are fitted.

Will a stiffer KING SPRING in the front level up my car instead of having the OEM Springs?

Hey Packeteer, They are the 40mm Spacers and I currently have 265/65/17 but I am looking at changing to a 275/75/17 or a 285/70/17............

40mm is HUGE! the usual rule is a spacer will give you 1.5 to 2 times the height.

Now, if you want to level the front (not a good idea) then you'll prob want a 4" lift in the front.
you could achieve this with a 2" strut and 25mm spacer combo, or a 4" strut

BUT, :puts on old man hat: there are a number of things not recommended with this setup

1. spacers see here: viewtopic.php?f=28&t=5959
2. big lift

I'm busy atm, so can't do the research for you. but the information exists on this forum and in the general brain collective :)

Have you considered 265/70/17 ? Still taller than the standard 265/65/17.

Dunno who makes a 275/75/17, but that would be even taller than 285/70/17 and would almost certainly require a fair bit of effort to make it work.

My rear line needed to be extended with 50mm lift but fronts were fine. I got the extended line through Ultimate Suspensions.

Just measured them and they are only 20-25mm spacers. I bought it like this and was taking a pot shot at its height.

As for Tyres Etyres have a range of the sizes mentioned in AT tyres.

Thanks for the replies,
The quote I got included:
Coil prado 2884 1x assumings it x2 coils
Sport strut hilux. 90002 2x
Spring hilux el044r 2x
Sport shock hilux 60006 2x
Spring bush kit. omesb98 2x
Ome u bolt kit. omeu53a 4x
Greasable shackle omegs14 1x assuming its x2
Bpv relocation kit fk59 1x
And Labour. 4x
$2000
I have to speak with them about the Bpv, because I don't have one I have vsc, but assuming I need to extend the rear brake lines lets say $100 more fitted. Does this sound good to the experienced owners on here

ultimate,
Do all your prices online inc fitting?
I have a vsc equipped hilux so I assume extended rear lines are recommended.

Also do you have a preferred installer in newcastle ?

Undecided what to put in the front of the hilux, only want a 2 inch lift. Was going to go OME, but its not the full 2 inch. Any thoughts on other brands that do a spring and shock? Cheers guys
