hey guys just wanting to get some feedback if anyone is running a dobinsons mrr kit in their hilux or an ultimate kit i can't make my mind up between the 2 so any feedback would be greatly appreciated. i like the adjustability of the mrr but its a bit more expensive than the ultimate kit but i would have to install the ultimate by myself cheers guys

Ive got the ultimate in mine. It was in it when i bought it. I have driven 2 standard hiluxs and 3. Mine spec with unknown brand 2 inch lift. Mine certainly handles miles better than all the others i have driven. The back doesnt seem to bounce around and the front soaks up the bumps pretty well.
I would have no hesitation buying an ultimate kit given the choice.

Pretty interested in this... having trawled through various threads, these two seem to get the best reviews and the most recommendations for a 2 inch lift.

The adjustability of the MRR is attractive, in case you change your accessories setup.

Just another thought to add. If its adjustable does that make it more likely for cvs to fail if diff drop isnt installed?
Most people i imagine would end up cranking it right up anyway to get more lift but then the diff would still bottom out once dropped.
Obviously people do it for more flex but then really you need front locker to maximise traction at full flex anyway.

I dont understand the fascination of adjustable. It's just more money for no good reason.

Ultimate is custom built to the height you want and for the weight of your vejicle

Agree with above, just set it up right the first time and get to using it!

I have had Ultimate fronts in for 120K now, hasn't sagged at all and rides great in all conditions.

These ones have copped a flogging, bull bar, winch, batteries, heaps! of corrugations and rough stuff.
I am starting to think they are not what they used to be and I know the top bushes are in a poor state, next time around I am getting exactly the same again. (with a big discount for this testimonial? ;) )

2.5" is the top end of what I'd do, go a body lift if you need/want more clearance

Well I guess i'm going to be the first to say that I have Monster Rides Rekon in mine. I love the adjustability feature because I installed the lift as one of the first mods I did. Lost about 20mm of height in the front after I added bullbar, dual battery, winch, lights and a few other bits and bobs. It was great knowing I could wind back up to what I had previously been out with all the gear rather than have to go shopping for new springs. I run my front at 2.5 and I think I drive pretty hard and have never done a CV. All about how heavy your are with the right foot and how much you like to turn the steering wheel. For me, its peace of mind knowing that when it sags over time I can just keep winding up. I would go above 2.5" anyway - so that way the springs are still able to drop. Best off doing a 2+2 body/sus lift if you want bigger than 2" in my opinion.

I have been running mine for almost the last 50 000kms now and had no dramas other than the 1 wind up after I added everything onto the front. I think that it handles really well and its comfortable to ride with.

The only thing that I am not a fan of with the MR kit is how long the shockies are. I never noticed when I first purchased them until I went to install how long they were. However, its never hindered the performance. Just massive shockies haha.

so what's the actual measurement for a 2.5" lift 565MM or 575MM or higher if the stock height is 500mm but also heard it's 512mm if it was 512mm 577mm would equate to 2.5"
