FITTING GENUINE SR5 FLARES and tyres TO 2008 SR

Hi all,
have a 2008 SR D4D, will be replacing the standard rims with 2010 sr5 ones (15x7 +30 offset) and fitting 31/10.5r15 Micky Thompson Dick Cepek FC-2. need a few questions answered please.

1. will this tyre and rim combination fit under the guard or will it require flares. it has to go over the sransport sa pit, so has to be spot on. having the over diameter tyres engineered as they are +15mm OD.

2. what are the most popular aftermarket flares to fit. was disappointed with the ARB fit. does TJM or Utemart make them in plastic. need to accomidate a snorkel too.

3. ideally want to fit genuine toyota sr5 flares. have seen threads on this being possible, can anyone provide instructions and pictures of the fitting process including the marking and drilling of the holes in the side of gaurd. do they need to be square holes.

4. what price and where (dealer, wrecker) are you getting your genuine flares from

You will need flares. Get the utemart flares and you will never regret it. the fibreglass ones just don't cut it for a proper fit. the utemart ones are plastic.

1. They will be marginal without flares. I have the same wheel/tyre combo on mine so see my shed for an idea of fit.

2. I have the utemart flares on mine, again see my shed. Give Leon from utemart a call if you have any doubts, he is very helpful. Fit fine with a snorkle. No drilling required = no rust.

I've had original sr5 flares fitted to a 2007 SR by my local panel beater. It took a couple of hours with a cost of around $200. To fit the original sr5 flares you have to drill holes in the guards, I wasn't confident enough to ensure they would all line up so I decided to get him to do it. If you're in Brisbane send me a PM and I'll give you his details.

I fitted utemart flares to my SR last week,took 30mins,very easy and fit,colour match,finish is great,also fitted a snorkel on the weekend no dramas with clearances with the flares.

x2 for the utemart flares. Fitted them the other day only took 2 beers and a screwdriver to install. colour and fit was spot on.

I have the exact same tyre on my SR dual cab without flares. the tyres do stick outside the guards slightly and will need flares at some stage.. i will be fitting utemart flares as they are alot cheaper than i have been quoted at both tjm and arb..

i am installing my utemart flares 2morro cost me $300 off ebay... to my sr 07 i just had a quick look at them against the gaurds line up perfect paint match is perfect comes with rubber screws ect cant wait once they are on i can get a lift kit then 32's!!

must admit was abit harder then i thought was fiddly with the rubber installation but works and looks good all holes lined up !!

Thanks for the pics mate. Do the rubbers seal well against the guards? With these after market flares there are no holes to be drilled on the guards like the genuine flares, do the non-genuine flares mount firmly?

like srluxy said fit perfect! no need to drill holes line up with existing holes all instructions are with the kit was a easy job really only part i found hard was applying rubber to flare but after doin one i had it down pat sticks nicely to gaurd fits like a glove

No disrepecting your lux or you guys but they are not the same size flares as the hilux SR5 has,these ones on mine bellow are the utemart copy of the geniune type .Again nothing wrong with those type either it still looks good.

Where did you get yours from, and are yours the same size as the genuine flares? Are they made using the same material as the genuine ones?
