Have done thanks. Just need to add wheel nuts to post. What's a fair price I've no idea what to ask. Tyre store said plus $1K but that seems steep to me!!

Hi guys. Bumping this post. So it is confirmed that SR5 studs are longer than SR studs? NB Studs, not nuts...

I bought a set of SR5 rims to go on the SR (I have the SR5 nuts too), but don't want to put them straight on without changing the studs over too if that's the case. Thanks.

I put 09 SR5 rims and nuts on my 07 Dual Cab.
Not a problem.
However, if you read some of the previous posts on breaking wheel studs, then you should go the extra step like I did and put the new nuts on, at the recommended torque setting. I'm not sure what that is, but a search on the broken wheel stud thread will give it to you.

Thanks Kev. I just put the rims on using the proper SR5 nuts. I did an experiment when I took the old steel rims off. Was getting about 9-10 turns with the old ones. With the SR5 rims and the new nuts I was getting even more, around 10-11 turns. Same studs.

Based on this I believe that SR5 and SR stud lengths are the same. So long as you use the correct nuts then you shouldn't have an issue. I wasn't even going to try using the original nuts used on the steel rims, I could tell just by looking that it would have been struggling to make 4 turns.

Hi there

I am looking at doing the same to my SR (2007) but have some further questions.
1. What are the tyre specs for the OEM ones on the SR5. I know they are HT's but what are the dimensions
3. Did you put flares on? I notice one person above is running 31x10.5 R16 without flares. I do not wish to fit flares.

I currently run a 225/75 R16 on the original steelies and would like to keep the same rolling circumfrance. Slightly wider would be nice of course?

Regards

hey mate, the tyres on the sr5 rims are 255/70 R15. you will be able to run 31's with out flares easily. 32x11.5's fit on the rims to.

OK - new twist to this problem. I have SR5 rims but not the nuts. Toyota want $13.75 per nut - thats a sweet $330 to put my second hand rims onto my SR Hilux. Ouch.

I have been unable to source the nuts for any of the franchise stores (repco, auto one, autobarn, supercheap etc) been looked at strangely by folk in smaller stores. Auto one at least knew what I was after but their supplier is out of stock until September.

I'm thinking I might have to pay the devil if I want those wheels on by this weekend.

I geuss the reason I'm posting is - if you are thinking of buying some SR5 rims either try to get the nuts in the deal or be prepared for a fairly sizable extra cost.

cheers all,

Stu

Try a tyre joint stu, i had to buy new nuts for my classic locks on my land cruiser as the wheels didn't come with any. Any tyre joint will be able to supply you with all 24 nuts for around the $100 mark.

Ok - tyre joints all said that they usually have the wheel nuts, but currently don't. The NEW lesson to come out of this is . . . POST YOUR PROBLEMS!!!!
The forum has helped out with some good suggestions and a forum member had some unused sr5 nuts in his shed that he sold at a very reasonable price. I am now much happier than I was at the start of the week.

Once again, thanks Dave. Should be all set with new rims and rubber for the weekend.

Hey Guys,

Maybe off topic, maybe not?

What's invloved in fitting SR5 rims onto SR 4x2?

Been planning to do it, but on inspection 4x2 is 5 stud pattern, so I'm thinking new hubs etc etc, but is there another way of doing it as new hubs is not happening, especially considering 4x4 to 4x2.

Cheers

Trev

Mate, I just put the rims and SR5 nuts straight onto the SR - no issues at all.
I'm doing a lot of road km so just went up to the 255 rubber in AllTerrain. Miles better than the 205s in some solid rubber compound that makes wet roundabouts seem like friggin soapy glass. :D

(4x4 by the way)

I paid $600 for mine with tyres.
The tyres were stuffed however so it seems to be an ok price.
Just make sure you get the centre caps as well.

Kev.

just another question on this topic. Will the pre 2012 15 inch sr5 alloys fit on a 2012 single cab?
